Updated to 10.6.8, now I can't print

Have run applejack, reset printing system & reinstalled printer (FujiXerox 5065II with Fiery RIP), but the print Queue just keeps pausing. The error_log gives this: printer-state-message="/usr/libexec/cups/backend/lpd failed"

Does anyone have a similar problem or found a workaround?

thanks.

Here's an awkward workaround for printing with OS 10.6.8 to a Xerox WorkCenter 7242: Print as you would normally, then turn off the WorkCentre, wait a few seconds, then turn it back on. Once the main screen has reappeared on the copier, go to the Print Queue and click on "Resume." Your print job should now go through. I've tried this with 2 jobs in the queue, and both went through. Future print jobs, however, once again get stuck in eternal "Printer Paused" limbo. Of course, this approach would be disruptive to other users on the network!

We're using a networked Xerox WorkCentre 5225 over here, same deal. Two of our four iMacs are updated to 10.6.8 (both w/ the incremental update, and one w/ the combo on top of the incremental), and two are still 10.6.7. The un-updated machines print fine; the two updated ones are stuck in "Printer Paused" purgatory. We'll try gmeade's workaround for now, but this is quite bothersome. Here's hoping Apple gets this diagnosed and fixed post haste.

Ok, I finally solved, but it takes about 4 hours to complete.

1st Use Time Machine and make a Full Backup

2 nd You need Snow Leopard Install Disk

3rd Make a clean install, im attaching the Youtube Tutorial I Use

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z0K-mD8rAyA

4th Restore from your Time Machine

Even if Time Machine restores a lot of things, you will need to install a few more things to get back to normal.

DO NOT UPGRADE AGAIN, TILL SOMEONE POST IT DIFRENTLY.

I guess Xerox Docucolor owners wont be able to Use Lion.

I forgot to mention that I use Xerox Docucolor 252, all others printers were not affected.

After spending over an hour and a half with Xerox Level 2 support for our DocuColor 242 with bustled Fiery with no luck. I called Apple and the only EASY but "not-so-fast" conclusion we came to was to resort back to a TimeMachine backup from yesterday - that was the only way to solve the problem with the least amount of headaches and lost production. If you have TimeMachine, boot from a 10.6.X disk and go up to the top of the screen and select "restore from backup" and select a time before you installed the update.

BTW, as I was on the phone with the Xerox Level 2 rep, I was the first one with the issue, after an half-hour, another 6 issues of the same were reported.....let the flood gates open.....

The Apple Tech told me that this update was supposed to modify the app store and some other files to make it ready for the Lion release..I bet it removed some part of Rosetta from the system.....

@headyfrombrigantine, chill out, you sound like an arrogant ****! A spoiled brat does not even sound like you. Obviously your not very technical or savy when it comes to these things, because you have not even mentioned what type of printer you are using. And as for getting more accomplished and making money, being sweet always works best.

If your using a commercial printer or something up there like a printer for your business, you should talk to your IT person. If you don't have an IT person, then you need to go slow, and calm your self down and act a little humble, especially if you want some one else to clean up your problem.

Also some commercial printers don't work if you don't have the latest driver from the printer manufactures web site. Also some printers have an add on chip (very expensive to get if your printer does not have that add on chip for post scripting)

@cm-nzl take a look at these two links...

I don't know how to help you all. I hope you all get your issues resolved... It sounds more like an issue with the printer manufacturer than with Apple. I have no problems with my printer. so I know its not 10.6.8.
