Hello, I plugged in a usb connected to my android phone, but can't find the device on the mac. The phone recognized the connection and I mounted it, however on the mac no screen popped up or anything, and idk where to find the device so that I can't intregrate with and exchange material with my phone.

My problem seems more extreme: my MacBook Pro (2015 13" Retina) cannot detect USB drives, either in Finder, Disk Utility or Terminal. The drives work fine in an almost identical Macbook. Both USB ports give the same outcome, so a hardware defect at the port seems unlikely. Any ideas very welcome!
It seems that your question has not been replied yet. I also have the same problem as you and I desperately need the answer to that. Have you gotten the answer yet since your question was posted last year? (in another thread or etc.) If yes please let me know. Thanks.
Try to go to finder > general. Tick the external disks box if it haven't been ticked yet.
Your external disks icon will appear in your homescreen or finder tab.

Well, don't forget the old method - reboot your mac. I have this problem from time to time, and reboot always solve it.
Finder- Preferences-general-Check USB and VOILA!
