Update to 10.6.8 broke my optical audio - any help?

Hi everyone,

i have just upgrade my system to 10.6.8 and everything work fine except my audio thru optical output. I have pluged Logitech Z-5500 Digital to my MacBook Pro's optical sound output and my problem now is that, when i play some HD movie vith DolbyDigital AC3 ore DTS, it plays fine but when i stop watching movie and close VLC, no other sounds play.. no itunes, no standard stereo movies ect.. it plays only AC3 od DTS sound track.. so when i want to listen some music, i must restart MBP and it plays again everything until i open again movie with 5.1 track....

any solution to fix it?

thanks in advance

This solution is brilliant and works perfectly on Lion, mac mini 2007, toslink

"Minotaur - don't sweat about the big download - I found just the kext file you need at:

Just hit the regular download and wait 15secs and then it's yours at only 1.5 Mb. I used this file and it fixed my problem, so it's a legit file.

Hope this helps you out mate.

Cheers"

Open the zip file and you"ll find a step-by-step solution. Don't forget to make a copy of original AppleHDA.kext

Thanks a lot!
