The iPhone "..." could not be synced because the sync session failed to start

I am trying to sync my iPhone 4 with iTunes and I receive this "The iPhone 'XYZ's iPhone' could not be synced because the sync session failed to start." I have synced this phone many times in the past without any issues and this error just started to occur. I have done all the usual: reset my phone settings, restarted my computer etc. Does anyone have any suggestion as to what I could do?

iPhone 4, Mac OS X (10.6.7), Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong on this, but I believe it has something to do with the prereleased version of iOS5 that was only available to the developers at at the Worlwide Developer's Conference. Some person lists the exact instructions on the first page of this discussion, but it requires a log on to the Developer's website, which you may not have access to. My suggestion is not to mess with installing any beta versions unless you're a developer as it could possibly screw more stuff up.

I tried several of the given solutions throughout this post and noe seemed to work other than a Full Restore. Not sure what caused this; the last setting that I was tampering with before I began to receive this error was when I attempted to turn off syncing to iCloud and wanted to do it to my computer.

When I turn off the iCloud syncing on my phone is when I began to get this error...

So I'm having this same issue as well. I've figured a few things out. A full reset works every time. Anytime I do a full reset on my iDevice, it syncs just fine as long as iTunes Match is off. As soon as I turn iTunes Match back on, my devices fail to sync again. I went through in my iTunes and cleared out all the thousands of playlists that were created. So those are gone and have been gone for about 3 days. However, on my devices, when I turn Match back on, those playlists are there. So even though they don't show back up in iTunes, I'm guessing they are still in iCloud? What do I need to do in order to get that fixed?

Keep iTunes Match on. Click the sidebar and highlight the first duplicate playlist. Put a few pennies on the delete or backspace key. After a couple of hours it should get to the end and be gone from iCloud. Then backup/restore your device. You shouldn't see the error message anymore -- not the most sophisticated fix, but it worked for me.

I would try to disable iTunes match on all your devices, sign into iTunes on your computer, disable and renewable iTunes Match to see if the duplicated playlists start appearing (even if they hadn't before)... Make sure it shows the proper number of playlists, wait for an hour or so to make sure they are deleted from the cloud... Then renewable iTunes match on all of your devices. Hopefully the duplicates should then be all cleared out of your devices by then.
