Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

Does anyone like it? Any positive reviews?

Just curious.

were you expecting an imminent update to fcp7 or something?

That's the point, we were waiting for a new interface and quality issues from very long time, but not return to iMovie Pro XXX or wait until they decide what to do. We are profs willing to offer good services to our customers so Apple should provided same services to us (customers).

they listened and fixed that for all the average, amatuer video consumers.

My point exactly.

People freaked at QT7 being discontinued but I still use it all the time after how many years?

Right again, nobody I know uses QT X. This may probably apply to FCP X as well. But is QT7 still supported (or sold) by Apple? I don't think so.

Whatever. Just stay negative if that helps you.

It helps YOU, apparently.

no that was not your point. your point was there is no hope and all is bad and your life is over. my point is they listen and fix things, ie iMovie and bunch of other software, like Aperture, which every user complains about w/ every update/version, then updates improve and all is well again.

QT is NOT supported and again, MY point exactly. Meaning, you will be able to use FCP7 for a very long time if that is what you wish/need.

it helps ME? how? don't get that one. You obviously do not want to learn it, think it stinks with out even using it cuz you are a ''pro" and think it is iMovie, and think Apple ruined your life and will never update it or make it fit your workflow and you have to go buy Avid. I mean, come on man. You are being ridiculous and overly negative. Has NOTHING to do with me. I could care less really. Just sick of all the useless unproductive ******** going on. This post asked if there was ''anything good about it" and yes, there is. And the bad things will get better. No doubt about it. Never mind. You just do not want to like it from day one most like you have been waiting just to complain, no matter what they did or do with it. It is obvious. Happens every time I should not have written one word cuz no matter what you will still complain, no matter what Apple does.

OK I tried.

Gave it a reasonably fair test. Frankly wasted a day and a half. They have missed the boat and we will all be forced to walk away from our investments in FCP and Studio and either sail away on another ship, or lose our clients. Because I am not seeing where my clients are going to allow me to produce anything on FCPX at least this year. And unlike Apple, who I have been a fan of since I bought a LISA when it came out, I have to answer to my clients to be in business.

Rating 1 star if I am feeling generous as a PROFESSIONAL.

Rating 2.5 stars if I am a consumer who is looking for "wow, that's sooooo cool"

Sorry - Not into soooo cool... RATING 1 star at best. At least the download worked.

@stevetheatrical....what did you not like? as far as using it and editing, not all the same old stuff people are unhappy with...did u not find it quicker and easier and much more intuitive? I sure did. I am a huge fan and long time user of FCP. I did NOT think I would like the new interface at all but getting used to it and actually liking it better. More control at your fingertips. Granted many things are ''hidden" and you have to search to find ways to do things but once you find them it is great. It will take time, just as FCP always has. Maybe it will take more time and I will not like it, or vice versa for you and others and you will like it.

I'm a pro user from version 1. Of course, when version 1 came out, I was a CMX editor and could not use Final Cut for my daily production work. Several years later Final Cut and then the Studio version became the work horse of my production inviorment, along with AE, Pro Tools and dozens of other programs. This week I worked on an industrial film and 2 commercials for local TV. I did the work in FCP 7 just as I have for years. I did the edit, round tripped to and from Motion and Color and the final surround mix in Pro Tools. In the evenings I watched a great little tutorial from Ripple Training on FCP X and Motion. I learned where features were, how the work flow progressed, made some good motion graphics, titles and logos and got up to speed with the new program.

I liked it. Just as I liked FCP version 1. I did my work on my CMX station but liked the potential of FCP.

So....... I'm going to gamble that Apple will add the missing features along with many features I'v not even thought of. My guess is a year from now I'll be laughing at all of this turmoil.

As to my $400.00 investment into FCP X, Motion and Compressor, its just that, an investment.

So short answer.........I like it, I like its potential and my Pro daily work does't suffer.

I'm a pro since 20 years - both shoting and editing - everything from web promos to satelite broadcast to HD cinemas.

I can't use FCPX in my work - for (one) example I use BlackMagic DeckLink videocard for HD-SDI input/output. NLE without SDI is NOT pro.

But I like the feel of FCPX and I think it's the road to the future. In one or two years it will have all the pro stuff missing today and then I will gladly jump on this app and it's roadmap. For now I just play with it for my family flicks of my little daughter - shoting with iPhone4 and a Panasonic HDC-SD100. FCPX is a fun piece of software. It's "happy" and it's beautiful…but it's not pro and it's embarising that Apple put "pro" in the name.

It is the future thougn and there is no turning back (Apple will NOT save FCP7 - even if UN demanded it - it's dead…but I will happily use it untill FCPX is ready).

The 64-bit and the background rendering is wonderful (Realtime? Well - not when heavily filtering and text buliding - but as fast as we can be todays hardware. Maybe on a monster MacPro it's "realtime"). Under the beautiful face of this app there is some exclusive code running and this is today the state of the art when same company builds both the hardware and the software. It's as fast and modern we can get 2011.

Does anyone like it? Any positive reviews?
