FCPX Proxy question

Hi there,

the Proxy-Seetings in FCP X works fine on my mobile computer. The speed is very good,

but the export quality of the movies is so bad.

I saw that there is a way to works with proxy but use the orginal media for the final export. Unfortenly the help files are not really helpful regarding this.

Can anyone descripe to me hoe to do?

Thanks in advance!

Best regards!!

From my understanding, in your preferences, under playback, you chose use proxy or, use original or optimized media. Hope that works for ya

ok i was hoping you say something like da, i realized i keep running out of space, for all this rendering, whats the purpose of rending really? i realize everytime i add something to the time line it render, does that just make the time line fades etc run smoother? but if exporting it will do all of that? still tell me what rending all about if i can do all my editing with out back ground rendering

Rendering may be needed or not, depending on the type of media and the complexity of your edit.

When you playback a section of your timeline which is not rendered, FCP X has to compute every pixel in real time as it plays. This may be easy or not. If it is just playing a clip added to the timeline, no problem; but if you have several clips composited, adding effects, titles, color correction, etc., calculating all that and playing back in real time may not be possible, causing stutter. Rendering is just precomputing and storing, so that it can playback smoothly.

When exporting, the only possible penalty of not having rendered is it may take a little longer. The output will be same, regardless.
