How to change Apple ID on iPhone

I had to change my email address and I've also changed it in iTunes, however now I can't log into iTunes to purchase apps from my iPhone. It still shows my old Apple ID and I can't figure out how to change it. I've synced my phone with computer but doesn't help.

Settings>Store>tap on your AppleID. Log out and log in with your new account info

What worked for me was to go to Settings>Store, and Log out. Then go to back to the App store and purchase an App (free or not), at which point it asked me to login, which I did using the new Apple ID. Then when I went back to Settings>Store, the new ID was there. So it is all on the new ID. Just make sure to logout of the iTunes on you computer and then log back in using the new ID.

After you've logged out your account in settings -> app store, create and sign in on the new account. Bear in mind apps are tied to the accounts the purchases were made with.

That's also because apps are DRM protected, your current apps belonging to the old ID is permanently protected under that account. Through updates, iTunes will also continue to write DRM to the old ID you had because those apps were once DRMed under the old ID, therefore requiring authorisation with that old Apple ID which is why it keeps "coming back" when it really didn't.

You can only update apps on the accounts you've signed in to.

thx for the info. I managed to change the email associated to my Appe ID. The changes are also accepted by itunes, but somehow my Cloud info will not change - still shows the old email-adress. I have followed the instructions, and also turned off my phone a couple of times. Any ideas on how to change Cloud ID - seems to be locked and not update according to updated itune-info?

I had the same problem and spent ages trying to find the solution. In the end I took a leap of faith and deleted iCloud from my phone then started it up again using my new apple ID. Go into settings, then iCloud then scroll to the bottom where you will see a red delete bar. Tap on it!!! It will warn you that any documents you have on iCloud will be deleted but you will get the option to save your contacts and calender entries. Once deleted go back into settings, then iCloud and sign in again using your new details. It worked well for me. Hope it works for you too. Be brave!!

I also changed the email address associated with my Apple ID and successfully made all the changes to iTunes, iCloud, etc so those applications operate properly. However, I am still having issues with Face Time and iMessage asking me to log in with the old apple ID. Has anyone else had issues with these applications and been able to fix it?

Hi Claire

It worked, and now iCloud also has my new Apple ID associated. It is a new phone and I haven't started to use the cloud-function, so luckily I didn't loose any docs. I have also not tried to use iMessage and Face time, so I might return to this discussion again - as described by jfhildick above.

Great forum, and thanks 🙂

Cheers
