Mac OS X 10.6.8 and dock process high CPU

Greetings:

I have updated today my Mac OS X to 10.6.8 on my MacBook Pro 15".

After the update and reboot, the computer now runs the "Dock" process all the time at 90 to 95% CPU User is steady at 57% even with only the finder open. After few minutes, the fan spins at 4000 to 5000 rpm and more if I open other applications.

I have done this as per suggestion from other users in the forum:

1. Boot in safe-mode.

2. Repair permissions.

3. Boot and install the combo update 10.6.8

4. Reboot

5. Repair permissions again.

No luck at all. A colleague in the office has updated his MacBook Air and has no issues at all.

Just in note: I installed the 10.6.8 as usual from the Apple Software Update.

Best regards

Claudio

If you run Parallels, it's probably this issue:

Anybody know if the same issue is affecting VMWare Fusion 4? My wife runs Fusion 4 on her iMac with 10.6.8 Lion, and ever since the upgrade the Dock process has been swelling to almost 500MB of RAM usage. When I quit Fusion it does not seem to return to that.

I was using Fusion regularly for work but recently switched to my Thinkpad for work and since I did that I have not experienced any performance issues on my iMac.
