How to change iCloud email address?

I entered a test address when setting up iCloud, but now cannot find out how to change this to the email I would like with the @me.com ending. Any ideas?

If you already changed the primary email address on the icloud website, or your in your ap store settings and are still getting the old apple id in your icloud, . Here's what you do:

2. Go into your iPad Settings; i Cloud. Turn off find my ipad. When it come up to verify your account with the password, it will still have the old apple id.

3. You can not use the old apple id's password. Punch in the new password you entered for your new apple id.

4. That will shut off what is keeping the old id in there.

5. Go to the bottom of the page and hit, Delete Account.

6. Type in the new Apple ID, and password, and WALA! Your in!

I hope this helps out everyone!

This worked! Tried and tried to figure this out and couldn't. Thank you!

Thank you very much.. Like others I tried & tried. Your advice worked !!!! I had set up new Apple ID & password but couldn't sign in to ICloud . Following your instructions solved the problem, though I was concerned about deleting the account . Shouldn't have been, it's not as frightening as the iCloud message suggests. When I got to the stage where I needed to sign in to ICloud to turn off " find my iPad " my old email address was still displayed, but the new password I had set up for Apple was accepted and from then on all was sorted. New email address entered & new account created. At last !!

I tried this but it doesnt work for me. I changed my emailadresse up on Icloud and my apple-id. But my Iphone still wont accept the change and still refers to the old email. I can reset my password, Apple-ID with no problem, and when i got to Icloud on a computer the new email is attached. BUT my Iphone still refers to the old phone and constantly ask for Apple-id. It will not accept my new Apple-ID accepted by everything else but the Iphone. What do i do?

Is the old email address what you Apple ID used to be, and you changed it to the new address via the Edit button on Manage your Apple ID? If so, then follow these instructions:

1. Go to Manage your Apple ID, sign in with your current Apple/iCloud ID, and change the Apple/iCloud ID back to the old email address. This is temporary. Do NOT verify it, do NOT change your password: Apple - My Apple ID

2. Go to Settings>iCloud on your device and scroll down to the bottom and press Delete. Type in your current Apple/iCloud ID password when prompted. Follow the remaining prompts to delete the account.

3. Go back to Manage your Apple ID, sign on with the ID you changed it to and your current password, and change the Apple/iCloud ID back to the new email address.

4. Go back to Settings>iCloud and sign on with the new ID.

If you did not change your Apple/iCloud ID via Manage your Apple ID, but simply added a new Apple ID, then you are going to have to determine what the password is to the old ID, or change it. Go to Manage your Apple ID, and click on Reset Password. If you do not remember your Security Questions, you will have to have Apple Support reset them for you: ACCOUNT SECURITY CONTACT NUMBERS

Best of luck,

GB

I don't think everyone is discussing the same thing here and I'm sure many of us just want to clear this out.

  1. I created my apple ID long time ago with, let's say firstATgmail.com.
  2. Apple then created an iCloud email account for me, called firstATicloud.com.
  3. To login on iTunes, iCloud etc. I use my Apple ID (firstATgmail.com). If I want to check mails, I can either go to Google as I've always done or to my other iCloud account that Apple created for me.
  4. It's quite easy to change my Apple ID to whatever I want, and also to add additional email addresses or recovery email address. So now I want to change my Apple ID to secondATgmail.com, piece a cake!
  5. BUT, I also want to add/change the iCloud email address. I want to be able to receive emails to secondATicloud.com, without creating a new Apple ID.
  6. Is this what your solution does "gail from maine"?

Let's talk about an Apple "account". You have an Apple account that uses an email address as the User ID:

MaryJane@addressa.com

You use this Apple ID for your Apple and iTunes purchases.

You set up an iCloud account to go with this Apple ID:

MaryJane@iCloud.com

Both the @addressa.com and the @iCloud.com Apple account are the same - they are the "MaryJane" Apple account.

If you, at some point change your Apple "account" user name from MaryJane@addressa.com to MJ@addressb.com, then you go into Manage your Apple ID, sign onto MaryJane@addressa.com, and edit your MaryJane@addressa.com user name to MJ@addressb.com. This change to your Appe ID will also change your iCloud ID to MJ@iCloud.com, since your iCloud address is simply the "@iCloud.com" version of whatever your Apple ID user name is.

You can also add alternate and rescue email addresses to an Apple ID, but the Apple ID itself and the iCloud address will always be the same to the left of the @ sign.

Mork@cxxx.edu = Mork@iCloud.com

Cinderella@disxxx.com = Cinderella@iCloud.com

Yoda@starxxx.com = Yoda@iCloud.com

If Yoda changes his Apple ID to Yodabest@starxxx.com, then the iCloud account associated with Yoda's Apple account will also change to Yodabest@iCloud.com

If Yoda creates a brand new Apple ID called YodaMama@starxxx.com, then Yoda will have an iCloud account that goes with that Apple account also called YodaMama@iCloud.com.

The Yodabest Apple account is as different from the YodaMama Apple account as your Apple account is from mine.

Hope that helps,

GB
