How to change iCloud email address?
I entered a test address when setting up iCloud, but now cannot find out how to change this to the email I would like with the @me.com ending. Any ideas?

A quick summary:
This threat is about: "How to change iCloud email address?"
I don't know if uve figured this out yet but here's your answer, your @me.com email address is easy to find right on your device. Just click settings, then press mail, contacts, calendar then press on your iCloud account and on the next page at the top of your screen you will have your original email account which is tied in with your new iCloud account, click that and go down to the bottom of the page and theres your @me.com email address.
Hope this helps
It seems to me there are two issues here. There are those who want to change the name on our iCloud email address (this is my issue). Then there are those who incorrectly input their new Apple id. As I understand from all the responses you can change your iCloud email address but you must change your apple id. You can change your apple id by going to the website. I for one don't understand why our id must be an email address. I understand the need for it to be linked to a valid address but why must the id name actually be an email address. Not related just a comment.
People!!! I have successfully changed my apple ID and also changed it in Icloud. Below are the steps:
1) On your Iphone, go to settings - store - sign out of your OLD apple ID then sign back in with your NEW one
2)Delete Icloud account, when you click "Delete", you will get the option to keep all the info on your Iphone or erase everything, I recommend you to choose "delete everything on icloud but keep on my iphone"
3)When you sign back in with your icloud, it will automatically ask for your username (your NEW apple ID), and password, go ahead and enter the info. Then you will to "verify" your email address for the icloud to work!!!
If you have questions, please reply!!!! This has worked for me, im sure it will work for many of you who are having this issue with "changing apple ID in iCloud"!!
If I've read all of these replies carefully, I'm still not seeing a solution for me. When I have tried these steps and end up at the point of re-entering my correct apple ID and password, I am then taken to a screen that says "Account Not Verified".
This screen still shows my incorrect email address with instructions to check my email for instructions to verify this account. But meanwhile I am not receiving any instructions via email as to how to fix this.
Any thoughts?
I too set up iCloud with a testemail@me.com address.
It is different than my appleID@gmail email address.
I now want to change my testemail@me.com address to something else without changing my appleID@gmail.com address since all my purchases through iTunes are tied to the apple ID.
I attempted deleting the iCloud account on my phone, but as some others mentioned, it seems to merely sever the connection from the device to the account. When I log back in with my apple ID it already has the testemail@me.com filled in with no option to change it.
To clarify, did you turn off all iCloud functions, save info to iPad , then delete the iCloud account, then create a new iCloud account with your reset/new apple ID & password ? This would seem logical to me. Then there is just an out of use iCloud account w your old email, and you would have a new iCloud account working with your active reset iTunes / appleID. Just want to check i understand this correctly before I delete the iCloud account linked to my old email. Thanks
I decided that in spite of wanting to change my iCloud testemail@me.com, I could live with it since I can make 3 aliases that all direct email into the same account. It still is not cool that the real name of the iCloud account is some stupid thing I randomly thought of when testing out iCloud and can't be changed without changing my AppleID.
when i click the red delete account button on the icloud, i get a notice that if i delete the account, all documents stored in icloud will be deleted from my iphone. there was no option to save all the data in my iphone or erase it all.i want to change my icloud id but i dont wanna lose all my contacts and stuffs ?
Chris_in_cloud is correct. This thread is about not changing (or creating a new) apple id, because there are people like me that doesnt want to change the apple id, but only link other icloud email to the primary (and correct) apple id... that's the problem, and the solution should be really easy, with an appropriated edit button, but...
Like others have said, you can turn off EVERYTHING in the iCloud account settings then click delete account. Then setup your iCloud again using your apple ID then turn on mail again and type new email.
Or if you want to make an email alias go to icloud.com/mail (on the computer only. Not i device) then click alias and. Create your alias
You change it through itunes store - it automatically changes icloud's email as well;
-click on itunes store
-the email address in the right hand corner has a drop down arrow, click on that and then click on account
-underneath "Apple ID Summary" you will see your information, including your email addresss. There is an edit button on the right side. click on that change your email and or password and continue.
to double check go to icloud.com and log in with the new email address you changed it to.
It worked for me
This is the perfect solution.
People trying to change the cloud account address need to realize that this is just a link to a server to save your device contentu.. The address is part of your iTunes identity and the email address therefore has to be correct in iTunes and linked with your apple ID. The devices will automatically have this address as your default cloud address.
That is why an incorrect cloud address cannot be changed, but the incorrect cloud account must be deleted to sever the link to the cloud server.
Yes Matts solution does work (Iphone 4). If you already have another apple id, follow Matts instructions and when you delete the accout select keep on Iphone, log back in and your new apple id should appear.
I got bored reading all 5 pages of responses, so my solution might already be posted. I started by going into iTunes and changing my email. That was easy. Then, on my computer I simply went to System Preferences (NOT iCloud), then Users & Groups under System, then clicked "Change" by the Apple ID (you'll need to use your computer password rather than your Apple ID password), then deleted my existing Apple ID and added my new one. I can't remember if I had to make the same change on my iPhone or if it automatically changed the id, but it was easy either way.
Let me know if this works for others.
Just to clarify... people are not trying to change the email address associated with their apple ID. They are trying to change the "@me.com" email address they originally were asked to create when setting up their iCloud mail. I for one, do not want to change the email address attached to my apple ID. I want to keep it the same. When I set up iCloud though, I wasn't sure what I was creating with the "@me.com" extension and so I put in random letters. I'm now stuck with that as my default "@me.com" email address and have to creat aliases. It appears that when I send emails (from my phone or my iMac or my macbook) that go via the iCloud email address, no matter what alias I send them from they are still coming from the original "@me.com" and not from the alias.
If anyone knows how to change your "@me.com" email address once it's been created WITHOUT changing your appleID, that's the real question here...
Thanks,
Bill
