How to change iCloud email address?
I entered a test address when setting up iCloud, but now cannot find out how to change this to the email I would like with the @me.com ending. Any ideas?

Basically no - however you could make use of the alias feature of your iCloud account - keep your original abc@me.com account and add an xyz@me.com account - and simply use that - this is done within preference at iCloud.com - Mail - Pete
By changing apple ID, I meant that you crate a new one and leave the other :) I know changing the email which represents your apple ID doesn't influence your backups and purchases. But you can't change your abc@.com with doing this... As I told before, I don't want to change my abc@me.com. Just want to use it's mail service like it should be!
Thanks - worked for me. I just turne off everything off - saving to the phone if prompted. Then as soon as I went back into iCloud - it came up with my new email address & I turned all on again.
Yes this is the problem apple is having. i already opened up a case with apple on this issue and they have been working on it for the last 2 months! the issue went all the way up to the engineers. i finally received an email back from them today that the @me address is finally removed from my account. so if i receive mail from icloud it will no longer go to the incorrect @me address, and to the address associated with my apple id. however, it still shows the incorrect email address in my icloud account on my phone. the guy i talked to said maybe deleting and re-adding the account would get rid of it, but it didn't. so i still have to see it on my phone, but at least it is no longer associated with my account, supposedly! so it looks like there really is nothing we, as consumers, can do about this issue. it took apple engineers just to delete it from my icloud account. insanity.
Also adding to this thread.
Before i switched over the iCloud, i was able to use alias email address using the Mail client on the iPad and iPhone. afterwards i was not able to. After finding this thread, i had done most of what some users had done without success, could only see the primary account email address when creating new email, i could reply with the alias. After taking all the information in from all of the threads i tried more more thing, which that was go to the alias page under preferences on the icloud.com/mail and just re-save the info. after a few minutes i was able again from the iPad and iPhone create new email message using any alias i had configured.
My wife just messed up her phone, changing the apple id, but icloud wouldn't update. I looked at the first few blogs, and this is what i did in 5 mins:
1.click settings
2. click icloud
3. delete account
4. replies: do you want to save contacts/calendar, respond NO
5. account is deleted
6. go back to icloud
7. click to reenter new email address
iphone4, also ipad2, was able to change both
I have just changed mine as I am about to cancel my original email id and change to another - i did this on my ipad but my iphone still had the old email icloud id so here is how i did it
1 - change your email in your apple account( it is also my apple id)
2 i then deleted the old email id on my icloud account on my phone
3 i then logged into my apple id on my phone and pretended to forget my password- it asked me for my apple id email - i entered my new one , i then had to enter my password - the one disadvantage of changing to a new email is you will have to have a new password as it will now not accept your old one! I entered a new password - it sends me an email i re- enter new email and new password and hey presto i have the new eamil icloud id on my phone !!!!!
Good luck!
I had the same frustrating problem, but all you do is go to settings-icloud-turn everything to off, and 'save' -delete account -'save' again - then go back into iCloud and your new address should pop up.
Matt's solution worked for me! I made sure my new Apple ID/e-mail address was set up correctly with iTunes, then went to the iCloud setting on my iPhone and turned all syncing options off. It let me delete my account and when I signed back in, my new Apple ID/e-mail address was there and I just turned on all my syncing options again.
I think the key is to turn off each individual syncing option before deleting the iCloud account.
YUP!!! this totally works! It was a breeze you just uncheck everything that you dont want to be disturbed and delete account... then eneter the new account that you created and everything works fine! thanks!!!! i was so scared i was going to lose everything once i deleted it! your great Matt!
I have tried this and at no time was I given the opportunity to create a new @me email address, only enter a new Apple ID. Changing Apple ID is not a problem as I have done this once already in the past, but the @me.com iCloud email seems impossible 😕
This seems to be such a simple request, but no clear answers. I have asked at the Apple Store and they confirm it cannot be done, yet some people still insist it can.
For those who have done it do you have any screen shots?
Below is a screen shot of the address I want to change

Yes Steppy, that is exactly the same issue i had and sorry to say, there really seems to be nothing Apple can do about it as far as how it appears on your phone. I had called Apple, talked to numerous people at different levels and it ended up going all the way up to the engineers. The whole process actually took about 2-3 months before i received some finality on it! In the end, they basically were able to inactivate the improper @me.com email address, but it would still show it on the phone, even though it is no longer linked to my account. So I still see it on my phone, as you do, but it is supposedly no longer actually linked to my account. Annoying yes, but that was all they could do for me. hopefully that'll at least bring some closure for you. There is nothing you can really do except unlink it from your account, but it shouldn't really be a big issue anyway. I know it's annoying seeing it on the phone though! Sorry!
Curious & confused with all this mix up... did we establish a way yet to change the Mail Address under the ADVANCED settings? I, too, entered in an incorrect email that is not mine & I cannot change it. I don't even have a "@me.com" mail address. My Apple ID email address is fine & I do not wish to change it. I only wish to change the Mail Address under the ADVANCED settings within the icloud ACCOUNT settings. Also, What are the downsides of having an incorrect email address placed here? Thanks in advance!
I suggest you have an email from Apple in the account you have specified as the new ID - you need to open this and follow the instructions to verify the new ID before following bputtkammer's instructions. Ive just gone through the process and it worked for me.
i dont know what all the people said from this form but i have changed it before simply go to itunes on your computer then itunes store then click in the upper right corner on the email address and then edit apple id details so easy hope this helps and if its been answered already sorry so
