10.6.8 Arial OTF missing

I installed Snow Leopard update 10.6.8 today and Arial OTF is gone. I have a 200 page InDesign document that uses that font on every page. I called Apple about this and the best the guy could come up with was that I should re-install Snow Leopard from the original disk. Ridiculous.

I can't even find that font on the original Snow L. disk, or on the internet.

Anyone?

This may sound odd, but have you done a spotlight search for the font? Maybe just search for Arial and see what results. Spotlight should show you all of the install fonts that match that search string. Arial OTF is not a default Mac OS X font from what I can find so it is possible that if it is not found by spotlight it may have been removed by the 10.6.8 update for some reason.

Do you have a backup of your computer system?

I just checked my "pure Apple" system (that is, I don't have non-Apple applications installed), currently, running 10.6.7, and I don't have Arial.otf installed on the system.

The only Arial I have is a TTF file, NOT an OTF. The only .otf files are Chinese.

You state you have Adobe Indesign installed, Adobe is the developer of opentype format fonts, therefore, it might be possible to re-install the font from your Adobe disks.
