Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

Moderation: how do I complain?

How do I complain about how some moderation has been done on a thread?

I, and other legitimate users, have been completely unfairly moderated against due to a troll coming and ruining the conversation and not removing themselves from it when asked.

Then the troll in question went to another thread and said all our discussions were against the forum rules by talking about what he wrongly determined was a "rogue software" tool; WHICH IT MOST CERTAINLY IS NOT! — and the mods subsequently removing the wrong users posts.

When I went to complain in the forum repeatedly about this, then my legitimate posts about the troll in question were then themselves removed!

This WHOLE threaded conversation thus entirely ruined by the actions of the troll, which was then backed up by bad moderation, and leaves a really bad feeling with me, so how do I complain?

😠

(What makes me angry, is that my very questioning the moderation and the troll a number of times in the thread, got those posts just removed without any *reasoning*, then resulted in me getting a threat of banning for having the nerve to want a response. This seems completely unjust, as a legitimate user trying to fight a troll ruining a whole thread.)

Yes, I did answer his question:

"You've already made your official complaint here. The moderators will see it as they obviously did in the other thread."

"Ignore him, try to answer posts, and when you get 150 points you will be able to hit the Report Abuse button each time he does this. Other than that act like none of his posts exists, or, within the thread you are in if there is someone posting with 150 points ask them to hit the Report Abuse button. But you probably won't have to ask, they will have already done so."

"Take the high road and let the moderators handle it. "

"So take your letter from the hosts construcively and move on. P.S. This is not a goverment site, you aren't entitled to any due process here."

I'd try to be perfectly on topic this time.

Here today I see a perfect example of fundamental flaw of local moderation system.

Look, there are no problem with deletion of my last post in thread - probably it is arguable on-topic no less than other posts in this exactly thread, but that doesn't matter.

Matters that we can see here an example of THREE MONTH deferred moderation, unneeded - as there are no flamewar and thread are de-facto dead.

That shows us example of moderation incompetence - and absolute lack of mechanism to correct that

Yes, incompetence - cos thread gain (my) attention (and viable cause) for heating up again - exactly due to moderator action.

And in this(and similar) case(s) forum have absolutely no ways to change/correct situation - as there are no trails that something happens. Nothing to gain other moderator/supermoderator attention.

Furthermore, this action shows us that 3-month-long time of first-level moderatorial reaction on post in directly addressed to moderation thread. That give me a thought - if there are any supermoderation, what will be their reaction time? Year? Ten years?

There are no chances that forum, controlling with 3-month lags, will be in control. Only chance - self-organisation of users - what we partially see here. Again - no mechanics to help users self-organise. No groups, no messaging. All user interconnection - strictly outside forum. Noncence.

Actually we have here closed (hidden) hierarhy without feedback and "social elevators". This structure will only work well when reactions are fast and competent - and they are not fast nor competent here.

System is deadly flawed and probably out of control.

Who is this misterious Staff? Kinda Illuminati? Superhumans without smallest flaws? Wintermute creatures or something from deep space?

No feedback - no error correction - constant lowering of S/N ratio - death for forum.

THIS forum will not die - cos here are a lot of one-timers with their problems, but this luck of feedback definitely leads to lowering of moderation quality - thus to lowering of forum quality

If this'll be deletion in any other place, I'd passed it by - but in thread on moderation itself I feel it unacceptable.
