I'm trying to decide whether I want to buy a Macboo Air but I need to know what games it will play as this is a factor for me? I Don't play anything like WoW or Crysis 2, I usually play games like N.O.V.A. 2 and Asphault 6...simple games like that...I just need to know if the high-end macbook air 13" will play them or not?
Can anyone provide some help at all?
The MacBook Air is lousy at playing games.
The HD 3000 Intel integrated graphics scores a pitiful 11 on OpenGL graphics tests.
The 2.0 Ghz 15" MacBook Pro is a little better off at about scoring 20
If you really want to play all the latest games on max settings with over 40 fps, your going to need a 2.2 Ghz 15" MBP or better with the Radeon 6750M in it. It scores over 30 on the Open Gl tests.
If you really serious, then your going to need a Windows PC tower so you can upgrade the video card.
The NVIDIA 320M in the current MacBook Air will definitely run a fair amount of games. Run them well? Well that's up to you to determine. I find for most games you're looking at low to medium settings and 15-30 FPS on average. Personally if I'm gaming on my machine and I just paid $1,000+ for that computer I'm going to demand a lot more than "15-30 FPS" on average. Especially when you consider the fact that I can build a PC rig for less than that with 2x-3x the performance.
