Is there an iPhone antivirus App?

I hear warnings of virus and malware threats for smartphones, let alone hacking (all the media coverage here in the UK at the moment about mobile phone hacking!) I see that security software companies are offering software for Android and Windows Mobile phones, but can find nothing for the iPhone 4.

Searching on these forums people say the iPhone is safe so long as its not "Jailbroken" ...... what does that mean?

Is there an anti malware App for the iPhone? With all the protection that is needed for PC's venturing onto the Internet these days I do wonder with a phone that can do the same.

iPhone 4, Windows 7

And, like all other malware, as has been pointed out probably a dozen times already in this thread, it requires that the iPhone be jailbroken. It also apparently only works covertly under iOS 7. Moral of the story: don't jailbreak your phone.

HI Wendy,

Dont be fooled by uniformed people telling you iphones carnt get viruses or be spied upon. I know for a fact they can my iPhone received a text and its content was just numbers. I Diddnt think any of it at first until I noticed all of my photos had be stolen replaced by a black background and white head with a lighting bolt through them. I then noticed my phone turning on and off by its self the screen would light up with out me touching it and everything including restarts to a very long time to preform. Always use a complex password and turn of locations.

i Have reserched for hours and now never have automatic downloads or mms on. I moved on from iphone as my main phone but still have one as a back up, on my android I use Karpesky pro it's excellent with lots of additional features and priced well. I recently read they have introduced the soft wear for iphones.

I am just a mum at home however the idea that someone can steal photos and track me is very intimidating.

hope this helps 😉

If your phone is jailbroken it can get malware. If it has not been jailbroken it cannot. However, your iCloud account can be hacked by someone who knows or guesses your password, or knows enough about you to convince Apple support to change your password. And access to your iCloud account can access the photos on your phone. To protect against that scenario you need to enable 2 factor authentication. If it is set up on your account Apple support cannot access your account even if they want to.
