I have an eircom.net account and can receive emails on my macbook, ipad and iphone they are all synched via itunes including mail . However I can only send emails from my macbook even though I have added all the SMTP servers that I can think of can anybody help ?

You have to be connected to Eircom Broadband or an Eircom hotspot to be able to send mail using Eircom mail! It can't be done when connected to any other ISP or mobile broadband provider.
You are better off using something like Gmail and setting your system to reply using Gmail....
Make sure Settings > Mail, select account then Outgoing server has your Username and password set.
