Motion 5 - Can't "Undo" anything

The .plist deletion workaround not worked for me, nor reinstalling the app, nor switching user... When i edit a curve on the keyframe editor, after a couple of edits the undo bug come back again, i have to close and re-open motion, this is very frustrating and disappointing, i can't work this way, i have reported a feedback to apple, to fix this bug. I hope they'll fix it quickly.

i am having the same problem. I am an intermediate user and am going through a tutorial in the hopes of learning more. I am wondering if perhaps having no luck with the "undo" has to do with the fact that i'm working at modifying a lower 3rd template as per the tutorial. It really *****, though b/c i'm making mistakes and keep having to start over!

Possibly related, but I have also experienced, fairly often, that the menus become grayed out - when this happens the shortcuts also stop working, for example pressing I or O to move In / Out markers no longer work.

Wow, Motion 5 is in need of some serious bug fixing!!

Try trashing your preference file

1) Quit Motion.

2) Navigate to User/Library/Preferences.

3) Locate com.apple.motion.plist and delete it.

I had the same issues and Mark's solution worked great.

I can confirm that Marks suggestion for deleting the current ~/library/preferences/com.apple.motionapp.plist certainly has fixed this UNDO (+z | command+z) issue.

This worked for me too. I haven't had problems with saving since i deleted com.apple.motion.plist

btw, I've gotten a lot out of the tutorial, Mark. There is so much more to learn! I could use a good reference book for Motion 5 but there doesn't seem to be anything available yet.

If you were a total idiot like me, and upgraded to Lion, how would you go about trashing this pref? There is no longer a Library in the user folder, and I can't find a trace of the mentioned file.

It's still there, you just have to use a command to see it. In the Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder (Shift-Command-G) and type ~/Library.

Another handy method of accessing the Library in OSX Lion is:

In the Finder hold the Option key when choosing Go from the menubar. You will see the Library item appear in the list of destinations.

It also works if you select the Option key after you have chosen Go from the menu (Library will suddenly appear in the destination list).

I'm also having the same problem with the undo function. It will work for a while and then suddenly stop. Really annoying. I tried deleting the "com.apple.motion.plist" file which got the undo function working again but only temporarily. Has anyone else had this problem come back after deleting that file?
