Motion 5 - Can't "Undo" anything

Hi all,

Anyone else seeing this problem? If I do something (anything) in Motion 5, I can't undo it. Command-Z doesn't work, nor does choosing the "Undo" menu item in the Edit Menu.

I see that there is a command available, but nothing happens when I choose it. For example, if I just moved text, there is a command-Z menu item to "Undo Move Text", but nothing happens when I try.

The "Undo" menu constantly updates with every action that I perform, but the Undo doesn't actually undo anything.

Hi Will.. just another thought if you've migrated to a Lion 10.7.x system from snowleopard 10.6.8. This is that the ~/ (your home directory) file system permissions via the ACL's may be incorrect. We and many others have had this issue.

Worth a look in case.

If the above is you case you may want to to correct them. I put this procedure (s) in an unrelated thread at:

post back if this helped.

Hey Warwick,

No, not Migrating from Snow Leopard. New Mac with Lion already installed. Still having the Undo (command+z) problem in Motion 5. It's getting a little frustrating to say the least. I have deleted the "com.apple.motionapp.plist" file a half dozen times. After deleting I restart and the undo function works again. The next time I open the app, the undo function stops working. Do I have to keep deleting this file every time I want to use the program?

I really hope that is not the case.

I'm amazed nobody mentioned Digital Rebellion's Preference Manager (free, simple to use, and perfectly safe, both to download and use).

With Preference Manager, you can backup the Prefs first, then if trashing makes no difference, you can restore all your settings.

If you trash them and don't restore them, you will need to manually restore all your Motion 5 (or FCP X) settings again, so it's a great idea to backup Preferences from time to time when the apps are working well, then if they get corrupted you can ditch the bad prefs and restore from your (Digital Rebellion) backup.
