How to restart in normal mode? I can´t exit of safety mode.

Hello.

I have a problem with the starting mode. My computer now is in safety mode and I can't to come back to normal mode. I was reading about this problem but I can't find exactly what can I do to change the starting mode. In this mode I can not do some actions, for example, modify volume. Please help me, is my first macbook and I don't wanna make a mistake.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.7)

Hi Blas,


1. is your computer setup to auto log in or do you have to type a password ?


2. you see the words "Safe Boot" on the login window (this will occur for either auto or password based logins) ?



3. you click the volume slider upper right of menu bar and you dont hear a sound from the speakers ?


4. insert known working headphones - click the volume slider tab - do you still hear nothing ?


5. what happens if you login as another user on this computer ? This step presumes you have another computer account on it to check - If not, going forward, you might want to create one for problems like this is, its Troubleshooting 101.


6. are you saying the volume slider isnt working - it wont move, even though you click drag it from its current position ?


Answers to these questions will help us troubleshoot your issue further....

😕 I had no idea we were talking about the audio volume. I was concentrating on the HD "volume." Oh well. Glad you got it worked out. 😉


The audio port is well-known for causing issues, so if it ever happens again, you already know what to do; gently insert, wiggle, remove a plug in that jack.
