Is the iTunes store down?

It appears that the store front will come up very slowly, but purchasing and downloading are not working. (From GA)

Just another data point - down for me as well.

I was in the middle of a LogMeIn Ignition update when it went down. Needless to say I don't have access to that application anymore. Good thing I have web access still.

Yup. Me too, here in Northern California, USA. Purchased and downloaded the new Yes album, "Fly From Here" last night on iPhone. Tried to use the new "purchased" feature in iTunes on iMac. Very sluggish. Could not download last two songs. And then tried to download FourSquare app on iPhone and would not work. That was when I did Google search with this topic and today's date and found this discussion.

Must admit this is rare. I have been a loyal Apple/iTunes user for years, and have never seen this kind of downtime before. Maybe it major update because of new iCloud coming soon. Still a drag, though. Especially for people who need apps/updates for professional or critical personal use.

yep not working for me either, just wont sign in no matter what, im glad i didnt buy any albums before this

Down for me in Las Vegas, NV as well. I just got off the phone with an Apple rep who tried to help me troubleshoot it because he was able to download a song and free apps. He asked one of his co-workers to try and download an app and he wasn't able to, so the rep admitted it was an Apple/iTunes problem. He looked and said there were others calling about the same problem so they're probably working on it right now. Hopefully it's up soon, I'm getting a $25 iTunes card today so I can buy some apps and whatnot.

Edit: Just wanted to add, this is the second time iTunes has done this to me in just a few days. The day before yesterday this SAME THING happened but it was fixed within an hour. I wonder what's taking so long? I really hope this isn't going to be a constant, recurring problem with iTunes.

Apparently global issue. On swedish account but currently connected via wifi in Poland - web ok but iTunes store not working last 1-2 hours. Apple, why dont you post a comment/explanation?

Add Louisiana to the list. Been trying to update iPhone apps and download some music from the store. Nothing.

Yea, right...like they'd really admit they're having a problem like this on a global scale, lol. As much as I love Apple (they made the coolest phone in tech history, afterall) I doubt they'd admit there's a problem, especially one affecting people all over the world. They'll fix the problem (soon, hopefully) and be like "Problem with iTunes? What problem? iTunes didn't crap the bed all over the world. Ya'll are CRAZY! If anything, it was a global outage of everyone's different ISP's! Yea, that's it! All those different ISP's were down!"

i'm in the MD suburbs of Washington, DC and at 18:35 ET i'm getting this: "We could not complete your iTunes store request. The network connection was lost. There was an error in the iTunes store. Please try again later."

Same here in Hong Kong as well.
