You obviously have no experience in working with databases and no clear idea how many different systems are intertwined, plus you do not understand how working with an outside system would add to the complexity.

No, I don't work for Apple and I don't care to pay takes for deadbeat police officers to sit around eating donuts and writing tickets.

THAT'S what makes NO sense whatsoever.

It really is of no consequence whether it makes sense or not.

Saying it should be allowed will not change this fact:

It won't be done unless there is a serious legal/privacy/threat issue.

There is nothing more for me to contribute in this thread.

FWIW, the minimum age for these forums is 13, so anyone signing up younger than 13 is violating the ToU.

No, James Ward, do not belittle yourself . "It " was not dumb. You did what was the best your adolescent brain could do at the time. And, possibly, compared to to other adolsecent brains, your choice was quite superior. It is no secret that adolescent brains do not work the same as adult brains. Nor do child brains. Apple should recognize this. And given the role Apple inserted itself into back in the 80's, which was clearly trying to Mold and addict child and teen young brains to there silly ipod thingies in a way that would create addicted loyal buyers through adulthood, one would hope that their goal would have been to play a major role in helping adolescent brains develop into adult brains, in which case, changing a user name chosen at age 12 would be allowed to be changed as part of the normal maturing process into a user name a normal successful adult could be proud of. One would think apple would want to HELP their childhood and teenage followers to succeed as respected adults. That means thet need to allow name changes without a lot of rigamorole. Frankly, I cannot believe someone, who appears to be on teh apple payroll, had the hutzpah to insult you with THEIR stupid "ya they do dumb things" comment. James ward, You rock. You deserve to be allowed to change yrou name with no fuss...

Apple should have allowed more protection/prevention by 12 year olds. Clearly APPLE wanted everyone here ... IT was no secret that parents did not want their kids online as much as Apple did, Yet apple allowed it to happen. Had Apple asked everyone for a credit card it would not have ended up with any 12 year old kids. Clearly APPLE didn't care. Fanrkly, clearly, APPLE wanted it to happen. The younger the better to hook them. Now those kids are adults and they are willing to be loyal Apple users. Apple needs to make it easy for them to polish their public appearances. They can always go somewhere else and start over. Now Apple should respect those kids. Or maybe it is best that they go somewhere else. Instead of telling loyal users they shouldn't be allowed to change their names, why don't you tell them you are sorry your incompetence, but you are working on the issue so they can do so shortly? Stop attackiing people who were 12 when they joined here. Help them make the changes they need to make to become successful.

If you have a lot of trouble on this site you are more than welcome not to use it.

Why do you want to change your username? So you can post things and then change your ID so you don't have to face the replies?

This is a support forum. You have already exhausted your point so I am not sure why you continue with your little jabs at Apple, this site, and other posters.

Instead of tellign people they shouldnt be allowed to change their names, why dont you tell them you are sorry and are working on the issue?

Why should he, since he doesn't work for Apple? One of the most ironic things about your posts is that, you have not taken the time to read how this forum works (or the Terms of Use for that matter), yet you claim to know who is an Apple employee and to know this forum inside and out.

No I don't. I m just stunned that everybody here seems to defend apple for not allowing people to change a user names. If you dont work for apple maybe you dont know what you need to know to give a valid response so you should not be tellign people they did dumb things at 12. That was the only insult I saw here. it is also stunning to me that within seconds of any comment I post I get an adversarial response to it. withing seconds! Its clear that people are policing this area.
