On all my other devices, iPhone, Mac, and MobileMe itself I have mail showing ZERO unread messages. When I go to my iPad I have one unread message, I have gone through all of the messages without a trace of an unread one to be found. Can someone pleas help me with this ghost message!

Try restarting your iPad by holding down the on/off and home buttons until your see the Apple logo. Also click on the mailbox icon in the upper left corner to take a look at all of your mailboxes then select the one and drill down to each folder that show the unread mail.
Stil there, even tried force closing by hitting the minus in the multi-tasking bar.
And I tried looking at the folders, but it shows its in my in box and I don't feel like going through my 1300+ emails..... again.
Same here. The issue occurs since I upgraded to Lion. I am not sure if it has something to do with conversations in Lion Mail, as it only occurs with messages that I have moved to another folder from the inbox. I'll try disableing conversations and report what happens …
I had same problem. Ended up having to delete the mail account and re-add it.
I had to do the exact same thing (deleting/re-adding) for an Exchange Account. Simplest way, period.
I've had the same problem and it has been driving me crazy. Just having 1 message taunting me. Go to the search feature on your mail and search "unread". Couldn't believe it worked but bravo to whoever put that in, bravo!
