Downloading QuickTime for my ipad

Apple didn't claim to support every codec but they claimed you could make, "block buster movies". What they DIDN'T state was:

"You can make blockbuster movies - subject to the codec you use"!

And before you start screaming again NO! Windows didn't say it either but then I put Windows in the bin a long time ago!

If you bought a car and discovered to make it run you had to download software would you be happy? A Mobile phone perhaps that only allowed dialling on a Monday unless you download software? A camera that you discover only takes landscapes unless you download software?

The point I am making here is:

I expect it to WORK! I DON'T expect to have to download software and mess about MAKING it work! MAKING it work is Apples' responsibility and it should do what they claim.

Obviously your'e easlity pleased - I'm not! And you simple wont have a word said against your God as you ARE prepared to trawl the internet and MAKE it work.

But whatever it's your God not mine. To me it's as naff as Windows but in a different way!

I'm not easily pleased, I'm just realistic. I don't expect a computer or mobile device to support every single obscure, mystery file format ever invented out-of-the-box. You can "make blockbuster movies" if you're using the software in the way it was intended. If you're trying to use some unknown (possibly obscure or proprietary) video format any rational person would expect a few hurdles along the way.

As well as still not mentioning what video format this "trial camera" records in, you also have conveniently not mentioned what Apple software you are trying to use to make these "blockbuster movies".

Whether it is iMovie for iPad, iMovie for Mac, FinalCut, Media100, Avid, Premiere - they all have limitations on what video formats they can use. None of them can import all types of video from any source.

I work in video editing in a professional capacity, so I do know a little about video formats. We very often have to convert video into a format appropriate for the software we'll be editing it in. We have video coming in from different cameras, different editing software and from different advertising agencies who all have their preferred formats.

So that you don't have to go "trawling round the internet" looking, here are the programs we use for getting video into a format we can edit it in:

• Perian
• MPEG Streamclip
• Windows Media Components for QuickTime
• Handbrake
• VLC

Dealing with different video formats is a reality - regardless of your (somewhat unrealistic) expectations. And mobile devices are even more limited in the file types they support than desktop computers, because they are more limited devices in general.

Yes got all those Julian - it's still naff! Example VLC - an age to convert, then it also needs rendering before you can see it in FC!

Dear Lord there were several people just here trying to help. We are not Apple. Seriously, your attacking the wrong people here. You came to the forum to ask for help which some of us tried. If that help doesn't meet your needs you are welcome to stop posting and sell your Apple products. I don't know about you but I have had a long history of problems with Windows and codecs. I own both Apple, Android and Windows products because none of them have been successful at meeting all of my needs. It simply doesn't exist.

As i know, there is no quicktime for iPad version, but you can transfer quicktime for ipad supported video formats like mp4 or m4v. If you don't know how to, here is a guide about how to convert quicktime for iPad on Mac os x step by step.
