I am having trouble importing video from my Sony Handycam into iMovie. When I connect the camera via usb, imovie does not recognize the camera but the camera shows up as a "no name" drive on my computer. i'm using the latest version of iMovie on my mac. Is anyone else having the same trouble? Can anyone give me some advice?

I'm having the same problem too. There is a third-party solution out there, but I'd really love to get this happening natively in iMovie.
I did some experimenting and found out the camera will connect and import if you record video in standard definition, not high definition. I don't know if it is because I am using an older Mac (little over 3 years old) or what but I took the camera back to Best Buy.
Unfortunately, the instruction manual doesn't not list what specs are needed for you computer to import the high definition video.
