web page has no down arrow/scroll bars

I have a web page I found, that I want to look at and peruse. I clicked on it, on my new iMac running 10.6.8 with safari 5.0.5 and while the page will load, there is not ability to scroll down the page. There is now up/down arrow or blue ball tab to drag down. I emailed my brother on a pc, and he sees the webpage with the ability to scroll up and now and basically navigate the page. I tried at work today on my imac there, running 10.5.8 and it sees a basic web page with the scroll bars. On my ipad, the page looks like it does on my imac, but I can use my fingers to gesture down the page.

Any thoughts on my my new imac is loading essentially the ipad page version and not the safari one with scroll tools so I can navigate? Is there a setting I need to set on my new imac?

thanks,

Michelle

no action with the space bar, and the gestures on my trackpad do not work on this page. Again, on my imac at work and my brother's pc, it is a normal page. On my 2011 2 week old imac, a different experience, no way to navigate the page.

I'd love to learn what this is due to as I have seen this sort of thing in the past and never knew why it did this.

Restart your Mac.

If that doesn't help, click Safari / Preferences from the menu bar then select the Security tab.

Deselect: Enable plug-ins

Quit then relaunch Safari. If the scroll bar shows up, then you need to troubleshoot third party Safari add ons >

Safari: Unsupported third-party add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues

Try the arrow keys or page up/page down keys on your keyboard. Also make sure you click on the part of the website that you want to scroll before trying your trackpad gestures or arrow keys. Some websites have multiple frames and the frame you want to scroll might not be selected.

Also you could try downloading a second browser like Firefox or Chrome for free. Even though I prefer using Safari, once in a while I run into a website that loads better in a different browser.

I may download Firefox but for now, I am just using Safari. Since I have a new machine with the up to date OS, I am enjoying having 'less' rather than more programs. But I do understand that some website won't play nice with safari/mac.

That said, I got a software update notice last night and ran it. After that, the page loaded just fine, with the scroll column on the right side and I am not able to peruse the website.

Thanks to those who offered suggestions.
