Yahoo Calendar Not Syncing

I have a yahoo calendar configured in both my iPhone and iPad. I have three calendars within the Yahoo account. They show up in the iPhone/iPad calendar and I can add new events on the iphone in any of the Yahoo calendars. However, events that I create in iCal on a computer don't sync to the iPhone/iPad and events I create on the iPhone/iPad don't sync to iCal.

When I go to my Yahoo calendar online, the events from iCal are on the online Yahoo calendar but the iPhone/iPad events are not.

Any ideas?

Running the latest version of IOS.

Finally, I have solved the problem (at least for me). I quit Yahoo and send all my calendar data to "Google Calendar", where everything syncs perfectly in both directions at any time, no maneuvers to do. The operation is a bit slow because you can’t export directly from Yahoo to Gmail, but it’s not complicated and you won’t lose any data. It is necessary for you to have Outlook installed in your PC and a GMAIL account (it’s easy to create one). In "Yahoo! Calendar" at the left side, right click your calendar and select "edit calendar"; then "export now” and this will create an *.ics file. This must be then imported to Outlook’s Calendar. Go to "File", "Options", "Advanced", "export", select "import an iCalendar file (*.ics) ", choose your recently created *.ics file and this produces a new calendar. Once done, again go to "File", "Options", "Advanced", and “export"; then select your new calendar and "export to a file". It will create a *.csv file. Now go to Google Calendar’s page and in the left column, select "Other calendars"; in the drop-down menu, click "import calendar". Select the previously created *.csv file and
... that’s it! Now, you have to activate and habilitate properly your Gmail account in your iDevice for it to sync “Calendar”. It seems complicated but it isn’t, and, believe me, it’s worth the effort. Since October, I have been suffering the torture of trying to sync properly my iPhone/iPad with "Yahoo! Calendar", and I lost many events. So, good luck and say bye bye to Yahoo®s problematic Calendar.

Hello Everyone,

Well like you all, my Yahoo! Calendar just decided one day to stop syncing after the recent upgrade they performed - or so it it seemed! This might not work for everyone but here goes:

The default name on my Yahoo! Calendar was John Smith as my email address is 'johnsmith@yahoo.etc.etc'.

However I found it fustrating that Yahoo! have now made your primary default calendar a combined to do list/calendar so that I'd always have reminder list on my iPhone/iPad called John Smith and I found this to be quite irritating.

Therefore I renamed it to ***? out of annoyance! Guess what, I didn't notice it at the time but my calendar stopped syncing.

N.B. All my events were still in my calendar when I logged in online via the webpage.

Having literally exhausted all the tips on this thread, I had just emailed Yahoo! again when I had a epiphany (don't worry I'll get it checked out by a doctor, I don't think its contagious!!!! ;-))

I changed the default name of my primary calendar back to 'John Smith' and hey presto - Bob's your uncle, my calendar has appeared back on all my devices! (I changed the name via the webpage login).

I do not understand it and I still think a non deleteable combined to do list/calendar setup in the new Yahoo! calendar is a retrograde step but at least I've got my calendars back!

I'm running Snow Leopard, iOS5 and an iPhone 4S & iPad 1 if that helps.

Sincerely hope this will work for some of you out there - it would be nice if it worked for everyone though unfortunately I doubt it!

Best of luck!!!!!!!

Thanks for all of the input. Can someone help me? My Apple iPhone has stopped syncing to my Yahoo calendar. I believe it worked before I did the latest update and selected iCloud for backup. My iPhone is an iOS 5.0.

Below is what happens:

Iphone - appts entered in iPhone calendar disappear and don't sync back to Yahoo calendar

Yahoo & MicroSoft Calendar - put appts on iphone with no issues, but not helpful when scheduling away from my computer.

E-Mail - works fine (no issues, which points to specific issue with calender function)

I've tried:

Deleting the yahoo acct from iPhone several times, I changed the calendar name to ensure that it has not symbols, I have Yahoo calendar listed as my default (tried selecting iCloud, no change); contacted Apple, not aware of issue w/Yahoo calendar (guess they don't read this forum); contacted YaHoo....useless

Thanks for any ideas!

I tried this and it didin't work.

It's been nearly 2 months and I'm still having this issue. I've used various workarounds, the calendar sycs okay for awhile and then stops.

I'm a Yahoo Mail Plus (premium) subscriber. I've put in a support request to Yahoo. We'll see what I hear back.

If this isn't solved soon, it's the last straw - I'll ditch Yahoo and head on over to Gmail.

Just adding my primal scream to the others above, hoping someone, preferably Yahoo, will fix this. In my particular case, calendar entries, either on my iTouch (OS 5) or on My Yahoo, will sync quickly for about a month; and then it "breaks." Sometimes both directions break; currently, iTouch entries go up to Yahoo just fine, but Yahoo entries do not go down to iTouch. What has worked for several of these monthly problems is to delete the account and recreate it; there follows about 15 minutes of extreme nervousness, while I watch the iTouch repopulate with the Yahoo calendar entries, and then I'm good for another month or so. But what the heck is going on???

I gave up. After using Yahoo Calendar since 2005, I've officially switched to Google Calendar.

Migrating my Yahoo Calendar to Google Calendar didn't take much effort. Here's an article with directions - http://www.alternativelifecoach.com/move-your-yahoo-calendar-to-google-calendar/

Most of the Yahoo Calendar events came over with ease. I had to tweak a few events once in Google Calendar. What I really like with Google Calendar is you can have multiple sub-calendars that are color coded. For instance, I have one calendar for work and another for personal.

So far, it's working perfectly.

Sayonara Yahoo Calendar.

Hi,

I follow this post since 3 months, after I lost my Yahoo sync. I tried all the tips of this post, and I have to say that it works fine...for few days. It is really a pity to see that yahoo is not able to consider correctly this issue. I have informed them and received an answer, they are looking for this topic. I am also surprised, are we so a few people to get this problem? It is very hard (I am from France) to find information about this trouble, it seems I am the only guy to get it here!!

I know that a solution (and I am afraid the only one) is to switch to Google, but I don't want to go ahead with them. I have just switch all my mail accounts (and my wife's too) to yahoo, to get new address and shareable calendar....

I hope a good answer 😝 to share it with you all!

SOLUTION...

I tried all of the above too,but without satisfactory results.

But here is how to make it work...

Use the calendar switch under the yahoo mail account (there are several switches). Remove the CALDAV account - it wil never work. Go to task manager (double click home) and stop all apps. Turn off the phone, then turn on the calendar under the mail account. Then, it will start working - you may have to go to the real calendar and hit refresh.

Been working great ever since.

YAHOO needs really clean up support fast and embrace the Iphone. The instructions on the yahoo mobile site are old/wrong/crap.

I'm intrigued; but I'm also an amateur; I don't understand what you are instructing me to do:

Use the calendar switch under the yahoo mail account [where? on my iTouch, or on my PC?] (there are several switches). Remove the CALDAV account - it wil never work. Go to task manager [again, where? I can't find this on my iTouch] (double click home) and stop all apps. Turn off the phone, then turn on the calendar under the mail account. [on the Touch or the PC?] Then, it will start working - you may have to go to the real calendar and hit refresh.

I fixed it just yesterday, by deleting the Yahoo mail account on the iTouch and recreating it; but the fix only lasted a few hours; I had to do it again just now. Why does it work, briefly, and then quit???

Below is the response I got from Yahoo! Calendar Support.

Yahoo! Calendar Support essentially says iOS users should no longer use CalDAV account method but instead use the built in Yahoo! account option (Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add Account > Yahoo!). Of course, this used to work for the calendar before iOS 5. Since then, all of us are trying the CalDAV option as an alternative.

Also, I noticed yesterday that Yahoo! updated the Yahoo! Calendar on the web. It has a nice look and feel in an attempt to better compete with the more robust Google Calendar. Perhaps, Yahoo! has been working hard at this and the integration with mobile devices has been on the back burner.

Suggestion to Yahoo! users on iOS 5 devices - Try using the aforementioned standard method for getting your calendar on your device. With the release of the new Yahoo! Calendar, maybe it's working now. Me? I gave up a few days ago. I'm now using Google Calendar.

Without further ado, here's the message from Yahoo! Calendar Support.

Thank you for writing to Yahoo! Calendar.

I understand you are experiencing sync issue with your Yahoo! Calendar using your iPhone device. I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you. Let me address your concern.

If you recently upgraded the operating system on your iDevice (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch) such as with the recent release of iOS 5 software for Apple iDevices that could be the cause of the syncing issues.

You can delete the Yahoo! account from your Apple iDevice and recreate it, forcing a new sync, which should bring all your information over from Yahoo! Calendar.

Please note that CalDAV accounts are no longer needed on your iDevice to sync with Yahoo! Calendar and you may delete the CalDAV account if you have it set up on your iDevice. If you have a CalDAV account set up and do not delete it from your iDevice, you risk getting duplicate calendar layers & events on your iDevice and in Yahoo! Calendar.

To remove your Yahoo! Calendar CalDAV account from your iDevice:

  1. Go to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch "Settings" application.
  2. Tap "Mail, Contacts, Calendars."
  3. Tap "Yahoo! - Calendars, Reminders."
  4. Tap "Delete Account", Confirm deletion by tapping "Delete Account" once again.

How to sync your Yahoo! Calendar and Yahoo! Address Book with your iDevice (iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad)

  1. Go to your iDevice's "Settings" application.
  2. Tap "Mail, Contacts, Calendars"
  3. Tap "Add Account" and then tap "Yahoo!". You may already have a "Yahoo!" Mail, Contacts, Reminders, and Notes account set up; if so just tap it under the accounts section.
  4. Enter your Name, Yahoo! E-Mail address & Password. You do not need to change anything in the "Description" field unless you wish to. Tap the "Next" button, upper right hand corner, when you have entered the information and Yahoo! will verify your account information.
  5. Click the "Save" button in the upper right hand corner
  6. Still in the settings for "Mail, Contacts, Calendars", set the "Fetch New Data" to every 15 minutes or whatever time increment you desire, you may leave the "Push" setting on or turn it off, it is not relevant to Yahoo!'s services.
  7. To ensure proper syncing between your iDevice's Calendar and Yahoo! Calendar, please make sure the "Default Account" account is set to one of your Yahoo! Calendar Layers from Yahoo! Calendar in "Calendars" found towards the bottom of the settings for "Mail, Contacts, and Calendars". It defaults to iCloud and if not changed to one of your calendar layers from Yahoo! Calendar, syncing will not work.
  8. You can come back to Yahoo! Mail, Contacts, Reminders, Notes to disable syncing for all or specific Yahoo! Services or to delete your Yahoo! Account from your Apple iDevice.

I hope the information provided has been helpful. Please don't hesitate to reply if we can be of further assistance.

Thank you again for contacting Yahoo! Calendar.

Regards,

Flora
