I've done this, but, when I try to run the new .mpkg package, I get the same message that it can't do this!

Actally, I amgetting so confused about what i am doin and fear I am building up a ot of debris on my computer, I am going to leave this for a few days and try to come at it fresh.

incidentally,if I did a complete re-install of the system, would it not immediately update itself to the dreaded 10.6.8?

Just to say that I have not walked off an left this - but domestic pressures have prevented me from spending time on the computer.

I have a linked question, however, I have not been doing backups, which I shall need to do before making any real changes and I should be doing anyway.

I insert a disc into the drive, click on "time machine", unlock it, click on "select back up disc" and I get a blank list not showing the disc I have put in. Should I format the disc somehow first, or is a special type of disc required, or what?

sorry to "bust in".

this is a case of confusion: the "zipped" file is hqx. unzipped is still has the hqx extension. unzip further and you come in ds_store's recommendations, which solve the problem posted.

TheUnarchiver is the most all-round unarchiver, and fast.

Funny though, under Windows these extensions are handled by the driver installer itself.
