Yes, that was exactly my thinking as well 😉

That's why I came to the conclusion that AppleCare would be the most effective path to getting some results.

They made an appointment to call me back this evening, but I suspect that actual reversal of the charge can't happen until the purchase has posted to my CC, and judging from recent experience, that takes a day or two.

Either way, I'll keep you informed on the outcome.

cheers!

Squire330:

Here's the follow up you requested:

Apple called me back at exactly the time they promised they would. The AppleCare rep/supervisor used online chat with an iTunes Store employee, and they were able to cancel the pending charge while I was on the phone with them. He gave me his personal extension just in case there were any further problems related to this issue.

Perrrrrfect.

I hope this information is helpful to those of you who continue to have problems with Up-To-Date. Try going the route that I did.

Apple support could not do anything they then referred me to iTunes support, promised a reply within 24 hours and it has now been 48 without an answer, completely unacceptable service, why wasn't this rubbish sorted out before the release, have emailed, sent copy receipts and have spent lots of time on the phone and got nowhere. The macbook pro is going back and I will be sticking to Windows.

I had the same issue.

I solved it within one day.

Try doing what I did. Go to the support page on Apple's site, put in your serial number there, and open a ticket through APPLECARE. Tell them that you want them to take ownership of the issue, period.

The guy I spoke with told me to go ahead and purchase the upgrade, and that he would deal with iTunes via chat to make sure I was given a prompt refund.

I did.

He did.

That was that.

Good luck...
