"OS X Lion - Waiting" Can't download Lion.

I have tried to download Lion, but without success.

I purchased Lion from the App Store and the icon on the dock just says 'OS X Lion - Waiting...'

I have restarted twice and I have been able to download other applications from the App Store and Install without issue this morning. Lion has been trying to download and install for 2 hours now, but 0 bytes have been downloaded.

Anyone else having this issue?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7)

Have you tried donwloading while connected to the internet via ethernet? also you could go to your local apple store and download it their and see if it works. You could also buy the usb stick that has lion on it.

There are ways of putting lion on a dvd, but since you can't get the installer to instal, you're out of luck on that front.

I've noticed, at least when reinstalling lion from the recovery partition, that it will jump automatically to wifi, even if you're connected via Ethernet. I've had to explicitly make sure and turn off wifi once lion begins to install. so even if you're connected to the Internet via Ethernet, it'll switch to wifi. If there is no wifi in the area, lion will just hang there, or if there is, and it's not your's chances are it will be very slow.

So again, I would stress for you to look at the upper right hand side of the screen and see if the wifi bars are on. I always have to turn wifi off BEFORE I put in my username and password. This allows me to be sure it's all from the wired connection. sometimes I have to start again. I'm not sure if this is everyone but these are the things that helped me speed up my connection.

Similar issues here. However, we're upgrading a whole family of Macs at home, and only one of the MacBook Pros is having the issue. All 3 of the others have successfully downloaded and upgraded to Lion, but this particular MacBook doesn't display any progress once the download is initiated. Which tends to make me think that its not a router or wifi issue. I'm wondering if there is some cache issue somewhere that we can access and clear out? And 10 pages of similar issues!? Obviously this is a big issue for many.

Try taking your Mac to someone else's house and using their internet connection.

After trying every other avenue listed on this forum, and talking for a long time to two different levels of Apple Phone Support, I was told the problem might be in my home internet connection, and I should try a different connection. I took my iMac to my mom's house, plugged into her ethernet cable, and voila! It downloaded!

I since had this same problem with the download of Knights of the Old Republic from the Mac App Store. I took my iMac to my mom's house again, and it downloaded, no problem.

Good luck!

Not sure if this answer is buried in this discussion, but after I went thru the Waiting to download, but never did experience, I spoke to apple support and then Qwest (now centurylink) support.

Qwest determined it is my 2007 2Wire DSL modem, IT like so many DSL modems have 2 gig file download limits built in to their firmware and are NOT upgradeable. So your options are buy a new DSL modem or go buy a cheap thumb drive go to apple store (if able) and buy Lion from them. that is the cheapest option.

otherwise a new DSL modem may be in your future.

Good luck.

Perfect conclusion speedtriple09. When I spoke to the Qwest support they stated that there were no download limits concerning my 2007 2Wire DSL modem. This was contrary to what I found on the internet concerning 2Wire DSL modem products provide by other carriers.

If OS X does not download the solutions are simple. Try another supported DSL modem of a different type: Such as in my case I used a borrowed Actiontec. Download directly from an ethernet connection; wireless or WiFi connections do not work. Or move your devise to another location. My neighbor brought his iMac to my house after I had changed modems and too successfully downloaded Lion OS X. He did not want the cost of changing his 2Wire DSL modem provided by Qwest (Centurylink).

It is unfortunate that misinformed or clueless Apple users are blaming Apple for their DSL providers incorrect information or for DSL modems provided which can not complete a simple download of software.
