"OS X Lion - Waiting" Can't download Lion.

I have tried to download Lion, but without success.

I purchased Lion from the App Store and the icon on the dock just says 'OS X Lion - Waiting...'

I have restarted twice and I have been able to download other applications from the App Store and Install without issue this morning. Lion has been trying to download and install for 2 hours now, but 0 bytes have been downloaded.

Anyone else having this issue?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7)

Out of interest did you try disconnecting from BT Business router and try logging on as a BT Openzone user? This appears to bypass the BT secret limitation. BT are clearly limiting the hub to the customer who pays for it but giving unlimited downloads for Openzone users. Go figure! Anyway the Openzone path worked first time for me and I have Lion fully functioning.

Hi everyone

I've had endless issues with this 'OS X Lion....waiting'. After calling Apple, and my own ISP provider with no result, I wondered if the '2wire' router was the problem.

Fortunately I had an old D-link router I could use to prove the point - and it did! Download started immediately with no issues...

Thanks for the hints on here - that's what gave me the idea to try an alternative.

All fixed 🙂

Hope this helps

At the moment I have the same issue. Just wondering anybody with an Apple TV get the same problem?

I recently switched routers and now apple TV downloads won't start and I tried to download Lion today (after being on holiday) and it won't download.

I believe it's a router issue as everyone has said becase it seems somewhat coincidental that I; get a new router + try to download movies without success & fail to download lion.

Thanks for the suggestion.... i've done as suggested and connected through BT Openzone (once i tracked down my password) and everything is working perfect now. OS Lion is downloading now in the background as i type.

Moral of the story seems to be that if you're having trouble downloading try to connect to the internet through a different provider/method 🙂

I have been working on the issue of not being able to download Lion since the software became available through the App Store. I think I have had the "Waiting" and "An Error has occurred" messages on my system for 2 weeks straight. I was out on the web researching if there was a way to resolve the inability to download Lion. I checked several forums (some of them were even Apple Support Community Forums by the way) and came across maybe a dozen references to the Family of Modem I had in use. It was a 2Wire 2700HD-G. Much of what I read about the Modem indicated there was a known issue with the Modem not being able to download files over 2Gigs without losing the connection. Mostly related to xBox 360 owners not being able to download large video games or others not being able to Download HD Video files over 2Gigs. I contacted my Service provider from whom I purchased the 2Wire Modem to see if they could offer any information about this issue.

As you might expect they would not or could not confirm the problem. I chose to lease a new modem so I could at least test a different brand (Actiontec PK500) and it arrived today. I tried one more time to download Lion with the 2Wire Modem and predictably it failed.

I connected and configured the new non 2-Wire Modem. Clicked resume on the App Store Menu and the installer immediately began downloading. Currently I am a few minutes from completing the Lion installer download.

While this was not necessarily scientific problem solving, it clearly resolved my my installer issue.

I hope this helps!
