Rename Folders in Launchpad in Lion

etresoft's solution worked for me. I quit the Dock from Activity Monitor and now I can rename Launchpad folders. (I tested on a guest account first and discovered that it was working over there already.)

Click on the folder to open up contents. The name of the folder is shown on the upper left corner of the newly opened folder. Single-click on the name to put it into edit mode. Change the name to whatever you like.

I was having the same issue but its resolved with a reboot after install of Lion. After the reboot I held on the folder until it jiggled, then went into it and clicked on title. Hope this helps

Tried all the suggestions above and I still can't edit the name in my main account. However, editing works fine in the other accounts. Could there be some other preference file that needs deleted?

I want to love Launchpad but it needs work. I fixed the problem with the suggestion to quit th edock, however, it returned and I had to reboot my computer to fix it again. I also dont like that you cant hide icons that you don't use regularly (adobe uninstall programs for example).

Welll, you can 'hide' the icons. Just group them all together in a folder and move them to a screen that you'll never use. Then they will be 'gone' from sight!

This is the correct solution and should be posted at the top as such.

This "bug" (I thought it was a bug as well) is an example of how Lion looks like iOS but operates differently. On my iPad, you have to "click" (point) and hold until the icons starting shaking, then you can rename.

That doesn't work in LaunchPad - the instructions above are the way to do it.

I like this way better - wonder if they will switch iOS to match?
