Rename Folders in Launchpad in Lion

HI - I've seen various comments on how to do this. I've tried to go into the folder, double click on the name (normally untitled) but it won't allow me to rename.

Anyone know how you rename folders in launchpad ?

Same here. tried to delete the application support/ dock files from the libarary.

retarted dock by ending the process... says rebuilding applications... and then still doesnt let me rename.

even reinstalled lion from stratch restored by user files with time machine and migration assistant

still not working for me. works fine when i try other accounts i have on this computer, so it seems to be some other file i should try and delete ?

This is the dumbest feature that anyone ever added to an operating system. Who fell and hit their head?

1. Launchpad displays every single executable on my computer in random order.

2. Launchpad has no option to arrange the icons automatically (such as in alphabetical order), as in a Finder folder. I have to put the programs in order manually. MANUALLY.

3. Launchpad makes me inspect all the icons visually to find the one I want. I can't begin typing the name, as in the Applications folder. It takes longer to find an appliction in Launchpad than in the Applications folder.

3. There is no option to hide applications. I have to look at 9 Adobe uninstall uninstally utilities with identical icons.

4. To Launchpad, the uninstall utilities, which I will use once in my lifetime, has the same rank as my word processor, which I use five times a day.

5. File names are inappropriate: If I group 9 files all beginning with "uninstall" the folder is automatically named "Graphics & Design"

It was a much longer post, but support went down when I tried to submit it. Here's what was lost:

  • There is no way to sync Launchpad between computers. If I have more than one computer, I have to put them side-by-side and arrange them manually.
  • Since I can only sync Launchpad manually, if they aren't in order, I have to look a long time to find the icon I want.
  • I only have 30 years to live. I want to do things other than organize Launchpad.
  • Launchpad includes applications that only other applications run, Why do I need six identical icons for "naib," which I will never run in my lifetime? Why do I need to see them at all?
  • If an icon has a long name, Launchpad doesn't display the whole name, and I can't hover the mouse over the icon to reveal it.
  • Launchpad is redundant. Pressing Shift-Cmd-A in the Finder is easier and quicker
  • Sometimes icons escape their folders, and new folders appear that I don't want
  • Because Launchpad has no Quicklook, hovering the mouse over the folder does not reveal its contents
  • Because Launchpad has no Quicklook, I can't put more than nine items in a folder if I want to see what is in the folder without opening it.
  • Because Launchpad has no Quicklook, the icons in the folder icon are too small.
  • There is no organize mode, so I cannot cmd-click or lasso icons to move more than one at a time.
  • There is no organize mode, so It is too easy to launch a program by mistake.
  • There is no organize mode, so It is too easy to drop out of Launchpad by mistake.
  • Icons squiggle and fly all over the screen, organizing them is a frustrating video game. I want to organize icons, not test my hand-eye coordination.
  • I cannot resize the icons, like I can in the Applications folder.
  • The folders are not hierarchical. Launchpad can have too many top-level folders. I can't create a folder "Tools" containing seldom-used applications grouped in subfolders by type.
  • The Mac is not an iPhone. One size does not fit all, and Launchpad proves it.
  • Launchpad may be an exception, but the general rule holds: Porting a feature from one device to a device where it is inappropriate, results in usability issues and frustrated customers.

Here's a thought - Don't use Launchpad, delete it from your dock and forget it exists if it is unworthy of your grace.

Some people love it, some people hate it. Like anything new.

When developing - continuity is of great importance these days. Apple is going for the same experience across all there devices, thus making the learning curve very small across all devices. Continuity.
