Upgraded to Lion, now I can't open Appleworks, Office or Quicken, Upgraded to Lion, now I can't open Appleworks, Office or Quicken

Since upgrading this morning now I learn Lion does not work with; Appleworks, Office or Quicken. Are you kidding me? A Mac that won't run Appleworks? how do I open files now?

As of August 15, 2007, AppleWorks has reached end-of-life status, and is no longer being sold.[1] Word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation applications with capabilities similar to AppleWorks are currently sold as the iWork suite.

How old are your Quicken and office applications?

Following on Scott's answer: I deleted Appleworks from my system and now Pages automatically opens the files. You can also set this up easily by selecting an Appleworks file and press ⌘ + i to get info. In the pulldown menu halfway down the window that says "Open With" choose Pages and then click on the "Change all" button.

I like when Apple gives you a strong nudge. The PPC apps are generally slower and often buggy (Appleworks). There doesn't seem to be any program that can open Appleworks databases. I am migrating all my stuff to Bento.

As far as Quicken is concerned, it doesn't matter. Intuit has pretty much abandoned the Mac and there is NO version of Quicken that will run with Lion. Intuit recommends the crappy Quicken Essentials as an alternative.

Office is, of course, a different story. 2008 and newer will work with Lion.

My Quicken is old, prob 2005, but that's not really the issue-iBank sounds like it would be fine for the day to day stuff. I'm more concerned with the do-it-yourself tax program that is updated each year (including for Mac) and whether it will 1-run on Lion, and 2-be able to pull in the prior year's data as it always has done. Probably need to contact Intuit directly.

I think that is wise and I think it would also be wise to contact iBank and ask if they can export to Turbo Tax.

This software is absolute GARBAGE. I am completely unable to open any old Quicken-2007 files and, worse, I can't even create a new blank file. The only thing that the app does consistently is crash and it does it VERY consistently. Adding insult to injury, there is no place to obtain technical support OR to request a refund.

ABSOLUTE GARBAGE!
