I recently finish my Lion upgrade, but my sound is dead!!!, When I power down my imac and restart it the boot sound works fine, but when OS starts no sound 😟
My iMac is a 3.06 Ghz Core 2 Duo with 16 Gb ram.
I make a lion upgrade from snow leopard, not a fresh install

I used IceClean as well... and now working really well! Sound is BACK! 🙂
P.S. Coincidence that Mountain Lion was released today and then my Lion iMac started throwing the beach ball around and giving me no sound?! Hmmmmmm
You can't just easily update your driver on Mac -- that makes no sense!? You have to be kidding me... That's a "Windows" answer in a Mac world.
Lion installed... sound dead.
