I just finished installing Lion, and i have no AirDrop in Finder. Also nothing in Finder's preferences. I have a Mid 2009 MacBook Air. I saw nothing about this on the internet/Apple's page.
Any sugestions?

Awww... I'm dissapointed 😟 AirDrop was an awesome feature i waited for 🙂 I hope there'll be a workaround or something 😀
I have MacBook Pro late 2008 and I also don't see the AirDrop...

It looks like AirDrop is based upon a WiFi standard called WiFi Direct, that allows direct peer-to-peer connections between devices without needing a base station, etc. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wi-Fi_Direct
Unfortunately, it doesn't look like WiFi Direct was built into devices until 2010.
Bummer. Was looking forward to this feature!

I have a late 2008 iMac.....I also installed lion last night and can't find airdrop on my finder. I installed lion on a 2009 MacBook and it is there...
Anybody knows whether we have any hope for a firmware update or correction to this? ..this feature was one of the nicest ones, I am disappointed that there was no warning about this limitation.
Airdrop appears on my late 2008 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo Macbook, but not on my early 2008 2.66GHz Core 2 Duo iMac. Feeling rather hacked off about that...

There is this thing called Desk connect. It is free. at the App Store and also available for the iphone. Simple to do.
