I'm scared to death of cleaning my screen!

Hi, folks - My iMac G5 (iSight) display is starting to collect a bit of dust & fingerprints. But I'm scared to death of using the wrong type of cleaner on this surfce, it looks so finnicky. I can't help but think of all the monitors at work where people have used wet-wipes, etc to clean these types of monitors and are left with those permanent streak-lines, like vacuum-lines in carpet, that never seem to go away once you've done it once.

What IS the correct solution for cleaning an iMac G5 display, that is more than a dry cloth (for fingerprints/smudges), but isn't going to give me those dreaded permanent streaks?

Thanks!

I found this cleaner from a local staples store also I found that Compusa had it as well. It's called "Screen Cleaner" by Kensington and it seems to be working fine. I have used it a couple of times already and no problems. The only warning is to make sure computer is off when you clean.

As long as you do not use anything with chemicals in it! The chemicals will eventually destroy the fragile TFT film.

Just use a microfibre cloth with literally a few drops of water on the cloth (just dampen one part of the cloth with about 5 - 10 drops of water). Then wipe the dampened part on the screen all over and buff up with the dry part of the microfibre cloth.

Using any chemical spray/wipes will cause damage - if you do buy a spray ensure that it states that it can be used for TFT monitors.

iKlear mentions iMac (All generations) but that has said that for 6 years now and I doubt its the iMac G5 it specificaly means.

Me? I only EVER use one of those blue Spontex-Microfibre cleaning cloths. Its dry, contains no liquid and cleans the dust from my screens and case of my iMac G5 perfectly. And it's only dust its cleaning too, I NEVER, EVER, EVER touch or let my screen be touched by fingers! So theres no oils to clean. Im not sure if the cloth would take off finger prints to be honest.

The manual for our iMac G5s says to only use a "damp" (only using water), dust free cloth. So using ANY of these iKlear type products is against Apple's own advice. So if you have fingerprint oils to get off use a damp cloth to answer the original question.
