Drag and drop bugged

When I attempt to drag and drop anything, the icon during the dragging gets stuck to my cursor and doesn't go away for at least a minute (and the function doesn't go through). Examples of where this is happening:

Dragging something out of the dock (keeps the smoke poof attached)

Moving a mail message out of the inbox and into a folder

Moving a file from a server to my desktop

Attempting to move the HD on my desktop

Repairing permissions didn't help. Rebooting didn't help. Anyone else getting this? Thanks!

Using a 2.66GHz 4GB 17" MBP.

If you want to uninstall Air Display, please use the Air Display uninstaller in /Applications/Utilities. If you just remove the kernel extensions, you will leave system preferences and other files behind.

Apple has fixed most of the NVIDIA 9400M issues and other bugs that affected Air Display (and all other third-party video drivers) on certain machines. As of Mac OS X 10.7.3. The only remaining known issues are:

On 15" and 17" late-2008 through mid-2009 MacBook Pro models, drag-drop is broken unless you employ this workaround: After every Login or Restart, you will need to Sleep and Wake the computer.

On 15" and 17" Mid 2010 MacBook Pro models, the system will sleep even when in use. The workaround is simply this: Set the Sleep setting to NEVER, and enable Display Sleep instead.

After having the same issue and not having Display Link installed, I searched around and found that some Airplay emulators for older Macs install a driver. I had Airparrot installed and had the same stuck icons on the cursor problem. After uninstalling Airparrot and the driver, all has worked fine up to now. Any Airplay or mirroring app could be the problem. I would suggest you try uninstalling any third party apps that do this. At this point I can't see this being an Apple issue. Will keep on top of it.

This issue has been driving me crazy for a while now as well ... not able to drag and drop items, including icons, files, etc from any programs including finder ... If I put my late 2008 MacBook Pro to sleep using the "APPLE MENU" - "SLEEP" and then wake it back up everything works and I am able to drag and drop items, icons, etc ... I don't have Display Link installed but I do have iDisplay for extending my screen to my iPad as a secondary monitor ... I really don't want to uninstall it to see if that's the issue because I use it pretty frequently, so for now I'll just stick to putting my computer to sleep and waking it back up until a real fix comes along ...

Possible solution: I found that although I could drag and drop in files on one volume, I wasn't able to on another. No amount of Sleep/Wake, shutdown/switch back on worked.

I compared the 'Get Info' properties of both volumes and found that the one that allowed me to drag and drop had the 'Ignore ownership on this volume' checked, whereas the volume that didn't allow me to drag and drop, er, didn't.

Enabling 'Ignore ownership on this volume' cured my drag and drop woes.

Hope this helps someone else.
