Screen saver pops up randomly!?!?

I've had an issue with screen savers in Lion. When my MBP plugged into power the screen saver is set to turn on 22 minutes after no activity. I've noticed today several times the screen saver has popped up in significantly less time than 22 minutes. Once in tried to pop up in the middle of scrolling through a website.

I just solved it for my 2010 MacBook Pro. I was researching an unrelated problem with 1Password locking all the time. And it turns out to be related.

AgileBits, makers of 1Password reports: "The general class of application that provides any kind of video drivers for screen sharing, supports remote devices or computers as “monitors”, etc. has been identified as needing to either be updated for Lion, or temporarily removed from your system if the software vendor hasn’t yet gotten a compatible update ready."

It appears to be the result of specific apps, including AirDisplay, LaunchBar, and DisplayPad. I was using AirDisplay.

I just uninstalled AirDisplay (via the uninstall script) and rebooted and the screensaver problem has completely been fixed. Thank goodness.

I was going to start uninstalling applications from my machine over the weekend. Now I don't have to go through the trial and error.

Uninstalling Air Display appears to have solved my 1Password and Adium issues. I have only just set my screen saver settings back to how I like them, so hopefully nothing will go wrong now.

Thank you JoeMeg

Uninstalling AirDisplay fixed this issue for me too!

I actually notice that Avatron Software mention this potential issue on their AirDisplay page, and explain how to uninstall: "If you wish to uninstall the Air Display support software on Mac OS X, launch the “Uninstall Air Display” app in Applications > Utilities."

Hopefully there's a fix on the way.

I can confirm that uninstalling fixed the issue for me as well.

What is odd is after my slew of restarts this morning I had an air-display update popup which I installed late this afternoon. After seeing JoeMeg's post I had hopes that the update had fixed this issue but alas, it did not..

Thanks for sharing the fix JoeMeg.

I'm not running lion yet, but have experienced a similar issue, when using synergy. I have 2 mac laptops, and will use Syngery to share a bluetooth keyboard and mouse between them. If I forget to stop Synergy and take the 2nd laptop around my apartment, while still having synergy client running, when the primary laptop triggers the screen saver, it will send the command to my secondary laptop to do the same. Or atleast that is what I think is happening.

I had AirDisplay and removing that mostly fixed it. I still get the screensaver jumping on me randoming, but only a few times a day at most. The biggest problem I've noticed however is occasionally the screen is just white when I try to get out of the screensaver or wake up from sleep. I can't login or anything. And sometimes I do see the password prompt but after entering the correct password the screen I get is the login screen and all my apps had been quit. Lion is a lemon for me.
