Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

Upgraded to iTunes 10.4. Now my logitech MX1100 will not control iTunes anymore. Updated SetPoint. Did not fix. Any Ideas?

I have Window 7 64-bit - all the latest updates/service packs. Updated to SetPoint 6.30.41 (latest on Logictech website). Does anyone have any more suggestions? Before the iTunes update, I could use the buttons on the mouse to control Next, Previous song and play/pause. Now they do not work. Thanks

Tried everyone's tips and trips... Still nothing for me. :-(

Win 7 Pro X64

Logitech LX 300 Keyboard

SetPoint 6.30.41 / 5.30.67

iTunes 10.5.2.11

EDIT - For some reason the windows media player process (but not application) was starting up in the background. Even if I open WMP and close it, the process still sticks around. Apparently Logitech assumes WMP > iTunes 😠 GRR

After killing wmplayer.exe in my Task manager, SetPoint worked fabulously!

Now my new problem: after I kill wmplayer.exe it comes back after about 30 seconds?!?! Any ideas anyone?

TL;DR: What solved the problem for me: Edit the "wmplayer.exe" entries in the "players.ini" in case of WMP is coming back, eventhough you kill it with the task manager (Since SetPoint somehow adresses WMP before ITunes).

Your post finally let me solve this issue!

What we know:

Apple changed the Window Class from "ITunes" to "ITWindow" for a certain amount of version. They changed it recently back to "ITunes", so the "ITWindow" fix needs to be undone.

In addition, you mentioned the Windows Media Player process. SetPoint apparently addreses WMP before ITunes and that is the problem. As long as you have that wmplayer.exe running the keyboard won't work.

I tried several things so kill the wmplayer.exe but it kept comming back (Must be some SideShow or Media Sharing shizzle).

So well, here is the solution:

Just make sure SetPoint isn't capable of adressing wmplayer.exe anymore.

You can edit the players.ini just like this:

MSMedia9=wac,wmplayerDEACTIVATED.exe,WMPlayerApp,Windows Media Player,xxx,xxx,xxx,xxx,xxx,xxx,0,1,Windows Media Player 9

MSMedia7=wac,wmplayerDEACTIVATED.exe,WMP Skin Host,Windows Media Player,xxx,xxx,xxx,xxx,xxx,xxx,0,1,Windows Media Player 7

Simply make sure there is nothing with "wmplayer.exe" in the players.ini anymore.

TADA 🙂

Much appreciated for making an effort to help the needy and desperate. I would just like to throw out there for others; Im using the Logitech Desktop Wave and even after editing Players.ini with Admin permissions and restarting Setpoint my function keys still wouldn't work. Oddly enough I found out that if I keep Setpoint turned off, my function keys work fine on iTunes (kind of a bummer though since Setpoint is the only way to know when I press Play/Pause/Vol Up+Down etc.) Anyways, thanks for the help.

Cheers

Hello! I had this same problem, basically, the media buttons on my Logitech K360 (wireless) wouldn't work at all, tried the fixes proposed here with no success (or partial, like the keys working with SetPoint not running), but then I found a fix that totally worked for me and here it is:

Open your "players.ini" (in your ".../Logitech/SetPointP/" folder), find this part and delete it (read the warning before deleting!):

iTunes_104=wac,xxx,xxx,1,0iTunes=wac,xxx,xxx,1,0

Warning! Notice it's different (shorter) from this part which you DON'T want to delete:

iTunes_104=wac,iTunes.exe,ITWindow,xxx,xxx,xxx,xxx,xxx,xxx,xxx,0,1,iTunes (Don't delete this!)

iTunes=wac,iTunes.exe,iTunes,xxx,xxx,xxx,xxx,xxx,xxx,xxx,0,1,iTunes (Don't delete this!)

If all goes well you should have the media buttons working again with SetPoint on as it should. My guess and how I found this out is that I found it strange to have the iTunes_104 and the iTunes part twice in the ini, so I guessed this shorter version was probably flawed and interfering with the "real" data used by SetPoint.

Wish you all luck! And thanks to those who proposed the initial fixes!

Best solution I found for Windows is here...

https://forums.logitech.com/t5/Keyboards-and-Keyboard-Mice/SetPoint-PLAYERS-INI- Documentation/td-p/446534

Found after a long search on Logitech's forum. This adds media button functions back for iTunes and many other programs. I do not think the file locations are necessary, I have VLC on a separate drive and media buttons worked after I launched it. You can set which programs are being opened with any of the Fkeys through Setpoint UI. I know this is an old post, but it is still a very real problem. I've been looking for a VERY good fix that should stick, and this is the one I think.

For Windows users - Be sure to change permissions on Logitech folder and sub-folders before trying to alter players.ini, make sure to exit Setpoint from system tray, and close iTunes before starting. Also MOVE players.ini to desktop, then use Notepad(Right-Click and Run as Administrator), open players.ini, select all and replace from text from link, SAVE AS players.ini in setpoint folder. Keep your original in case you find problems.

If this just one other person, then it was worth all the time 🙂

Hello all,

I've had many Logitech keyboards over the years and have suffered with media keys issues as new iTunes versions emerged. I also had issues with iTunes causing video playback to stutter; a side issue but it ultimately made me abandon iTunes (I've been using Foobar for a few years).

Now I wish to start using iTunes again but I find that my Logitech Media keys do not work 😟 This is my set-up:

  • Windows 10 x64
  • iTunes 12.3.3.17
  • Logitech SetPoint Control Centre version: 6.67.83
  • Logitech SetPoint Driver Version: 5.90.41

In the past; I've solved media key issues using nifty utilities / plugins such as mmkeys and hktunes but these no-longer work.

I've followed the excellent posts in this thread which suggest editing players.ini - sadly to no avail (perhaps I'm editing the file incorrectly).

I looked back through my software folders & found an iTunes Scripts program that provides a pretty good work-around!

http://www.maximized.com/freeware/scriptsforitunes/documentation.htm

During installation; it places VBS scripts for each function (play, pause, next etc) in C:\Program files (x86)\iTunes\

You can then assign your customisable Logitech keyboard keys in SetPoint to "Run a program" and specify the relevant VBS code in the folder above.

Sadly I have the K810 keyboard which only has 3 customisable buttons (the play / pause button ins't customisable). It's not a very elegant solution for me due to the lack of customisable buttons on my model of keyboard but I'm posting here in case it's of use to others!

I am currently using the Home button as Play-Pause and the Keyboard button as next - it's a makeshift solution but if you have lots of customisable keys; perhaps it can be of more use to you.

Regards

Al.
