OS X Lion 10.7 Sleep Issue

Installed Lion this morning and the only issue that I have found thus far is sleep.

I use an external display as well as the laptop display. When I close my MacBook lid and wait several minutes, I do not get the sleep mode winking LED and my second display does not go into standby, probably because the Mac has not entered sleep mode.

When I raise the lid, my laptop display appears to have been in standby and the Mac looks to be doing a device discovery. After the discovery, the Mac display is normal but all the apps from my second display are now on the Mac display.

Anybody have a clue as to the cause or is Lion just broke?

Installed Lion this morning. Similar/same problem on my MacBook. When I close the lid or use click on Sleep under Apple, the unit does not go to sleep.

Same here on a 27 imac 2010. Sleep mode works fine with SL :-/

New status

Take a look at the console. My bug was an error of little snitch! Now the lion sleeps tonight!

(same bug on mb air, the old little snitch app)

Wait, little snitch causes the sleeping problems? Huh? If so, that would be the cuprit of my issue.

i checked the console for entries and there i see a lot of events from little snitch, it tickers trough!

then i checked the little snitch logo above, it was gone. so i tried a reinstall of little snitch (with reboot). After this, the imac / lion went to sleep.

sounds not good. do you have a time machine backup from the time before upgrading to lion.

better you reinstall lion and migrate the programs and data from the TM Backup.

or someone of apple can help. but this error sounds not good.

Sleep issue is only a major inconvience, so it is a priorty 3.

Console issue is only an issue if I needed it, so it is a priorty 2.

Reinstalling Lion without Apple direction to do so may be a little extreme. Now if this were Windows then I would agree.

To fix the sleep problem, turn off internet sharing. once turned off, the Mac will sleep

Well I have a case open with Apple. After some initial try this and try that, it was suggested that I reinstall Lion which I did. Of course nothing has changed.

Closing the MacBook Pro lid merely moves the laptop screen to my second display and the computer never goes to sleep.

Disk utility still says wrong version.

Console still crashes.

I did learn how to boot to the recovery system where that disk utility works.
