OS X Lion 10.7 Sleep Issue

Installed Lion this morning and the only issue that I have found thus far is sleep.

I use an external display as well as the laptop display. When I close my MacBook lid and wait several minutes, I do not get the sleep mode winking LED and my second display does not go into standby, probably because the Mac has not entered sleep mode.

When I raise the lid, my laptop display appears to have been in standby and the Mac looks to be doing a device discovery. After the discovery, the Mac display is normal but all the apps from my second display are now on the Mac display.

Anybody have a clue as to the cause or is Lion just broke?

Cheers

Same issue here:

Close laptop lid -> Lion turns off laptop screen -> Laptop DOES NOT go to sleep.

It's really annoying because I used close the lid, wake computer up again so only the external display would turn on, then open my laptop lid again WITHOUT Mac OS automatically turning on the laptop display again.

I can't keep it closed because my MBP will melt my laptop screen. So now I'm forced to either have both displays on, or keep lid closed and generate a lot of heat.

I had an issue with my iMac display not sleeping. After looking at Console, I found a bunch of errors regarding an application called SoftRaid. I didn't need this app, so after uninstalling it, my the display went to sleep as desired.

As mentioned above by others, I would look at the Console for repetitive error messages. If the computer is working hard to overcome the errors with no success, then I am guessing that it may be interpreted as 'activity' and the computer won't sleep.

Apple will eventually differentiate true user input and background input to determine activity and sleep cycles in a future update.Hey, it's a point 0 release, and for the most part, it is truly excellent!

Since installing Lion 10.7, my MacBook Pro also will not go to sleeo, The display goes black, but the hard drive keeps spinning. This happens both when I close the lid and when I pull down Sleep from the apple menu. I am not using an external display. Just my solo MBP with all applications closed.

KEY NOTE: This only happens when power is connected. If I detach my power cable, my MBP enters sleep mode normally.

Taking advice of this and other threads, I have:

:: reset my SMC

:: reset my PRAM

:: internet sharing, file sharing etc. is off

:: I unchecked "Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps" (however, when I shut down or restart, my apps and windows reopen from last session; I can't defeat this).

After all this, when my MBP is plugged in, sleep mode still ain't happenin'. Sleep worked fine in Snow Leapard, etc.

Hi,

I have the same problem over here: MacBook Pro, 27" Cinema Display and none of the things mentioned worked. Tryed the SMC reset, the PRAM reset, updated Little Snitch, I have no sharing on at all.

That really *****. And as someone already asked before: Are apple not checking their software before releaseing it to the masses?

Any new ideas what it can be? Also a question to the SMC reset: When pressing Alt+Option+Shift and the power button, do you usually get any feedback that the SMC reset worked (eg a led flashing or a tone)?

Cheers!
