Does anyone recommend OS X Lion?
I've seen many comments about people having different problems and trouble with the new OS X Lion, does anyone recommend me to download it? My current OS is Mac OS X 10.6.7.
MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.7)

I do. I've been using it a while and every install and upgrade was easy and flawless.
Of course, if you read all the stuff here you'll be convinced that it's a disaster. All the folks who don't have a problem don't come here.

Does it work with Microsoft Office?
In a word...Yes.
Just remember, the only people posting are the ones having problems. You don't the the larger group without problems (unless they are here helping out) because they are busy using their newly installed OS.
Some people have had problems with MS office, but others have said it works for them.
Office 2011 is fine. Office 2008 works but the installer is PowerPC-only and so won't run in Lion; not a problem if you're upgrading an existing installation unless something goes wrong. Office 2004 will not work at all.
Regards.
I don't advise installing if your not competant in going back to Snow Leopard where everything "just works" đ
Make a note of everyone's issues what works and don't work, check with your thrid party software and printer drivers and then make a decision for yourself.
Got any Rosetta programs? They will not work for one thing. Office for another, Quicken for another....
Get the picture? đ
The people with bricked machines are not posting here because they can't. đ
THAK YOU

You will find that if you wait 4- 6 months after a new OS upgrade, before you install it, the pain will be reduced.
I am waiting for Lion to be released on DVD before I make the change.

You make your own now.
Backup Lion Bootable 10.7 Disk
Purchase and download Lion from the Mac App Store on any Lion compatible Mac running Snow Leopard.
With this disc you can boot any Lion compatible Mac, andinstall10.7 just like you installed previous version of Mac OS X. Youcan even use Disk Utility's Restore function to image your Lion bootdisc image onto a external drive suitable for performing a cleaninstall on a optical-drive-less MacBook Air, or Mac mini server.
Lion is going to be released on a USB flash drive at the end of august for around $70.
Says who? Please post link(s) to support that.
Cheers
I have installed Lion on my MacBook but my Microsoft 2004 does not work anymore. TD from Apple Support COmunities told me that I should upgrade my Microsoft. I have tried that but afterwards ...On trying to upgrade the Microsoft package for MAC I am told that Power PC apps are no longer supported.

You need to buy Microsoft Office 2011.
If you do decide to download it, update to Mac OS X 10.6.8 first.
Be sure you don't have any PowerPC applications that you still want to use (such as Microsoft Office 2004, AppleWorks, Quicken, some games, etc.), because they won't work with Lion.
No dont do it. Wait until the problems are fixed. My mail does not work which is a complete disaster. You would think something as important as this would be addressed at testing. Some new features but nothing that warrants turning a usable computer into unusable.

Just because you're having some Mail issues is no reason to suppose everyone is.
I know a large number of people who are having zero issues with Mail or other portions of Lion.
I presume you've started a new thread elsewhere so those of us with Lion experience can help you determine whether it is, in fact, a Mac OS X bug.
