Does anyone recommend OS X Lion?
I've seen many comments about people having different problems and trouble with the new OS X Lion, does anyone recommend me to download it? My current OS is Mac OS X 10.6.7.

Upon clicking the green + button left top on a new Air, I was amazed that its action had changed. That is non-intuitive and represents a fundamental change to the user interface--I believe this was previously a consistent action across all upgrades of X. Consider--hypothetically--a fully mature OS, and wether the need to make some change, any change, might result in this type of evolution.
TL;DR (at least not all of it)..
I wouldn't recommend it yet if you're using Adobe CS4 or older. The bugs have not been worked out of CS4 yet and for some reason - even outside of CS4 - the dreadful beachballs are longer and much more frequent in Lion.
not too happy with it tbh, hope it improves so I can actually notice the i7 + 4 gigs of RAM going to town on my 327 layered PSD..
Enjoyed OS X lion for the first couple of weeks, now I'm plagued by all sorts of inexplicable things that slow down the system and even require a hard reboot. Looks like Lion isn't ready for prime time as yet.
I am experiencing exactly the same. First few weeks I was very happy. Now my Macbook Pro 2010 model is really slow and beach balls all over the place. Have to sit and wait over ten times a day and application just do not respond (Safari, Aperture, Word 2011, mail, Calendar). I really dislike OS X Lion and Apple should do something about it. This situation and the number of people complaining about it is ridculous!!!
Same here. It seemed OK for the first couple of weeks and then I started to get processes hanging or freezing my system, lots of beachballs.
That's apart from all the inbuilt "new features" such as no more Rosetta, forced versioning and autosave, etc.
If you use folder windows in Finder, in icon view, you have no control over behavior. Lion decides how you should arrange things which totally disables my workflow. Even if you arrange by ‘none’ it defaults to alphabetical. I think the only way I will ever get workable folder windows is to go back to SL and stay there. Lion has some nice features and I will miss some of them. But to get any work done I must go back to SL -- no choice.
Also, Spellcheck has been messed up and is now awkward and frustrating.
I bought Lion for a birthday present for my 13-year-old grandson in Morgan Hill. When he downloaded it onto his MacBookPro, the computer crashed and lost thousands of dollars of software that I got him when I first gave him the computer last year. When my grandson and his mother took it to Apple's Genius Bar yesterday in Morgan Hill, they told him they fixed it, but that his MacBookPro's hard drive will probably go bad soon. Big coincidence!
I think users should consider launching a class action lawsuit against Apple computer. Just reading how many users have similar problems is evidence we are not alone, and Apple is shrinking from their responsibility in causing damage to our computers. Now I have to drive from Stockton to Morgan Hill to pick up his computer and get a new hard drive before we begin replacing all the many programs I got him. I've been an Apple devout fan since the first model in the early 1980s, but this soft soaping of Apple's role in the error has hit us hard and left a bad taste in my mouth.
BEWARE of using Lion. I think I'll see about getting our money refunded on this sour apple.
I have been using Lion for weeks now. I would not intall this OS unless you do not need your computer. Mail did not work had to reinstall and import all mail it is also very slow. My macbook has become incredible slow, Itunes keeps hanging with spinning ball. DVD crashes, or takes a long time to work with spinning ball. The whole OS seems to be 20% slower I am continuously waiting for my MAC to react whereas on SL it was fast so I never thought about it. Changing between identities is very slow, or a crash. The only thing that is quicker is Safari. Personally I feel Apple has lost its identity with this upgrade. The things I liked before are slowly being dumbed down or removed. I like Ipad and Iphone but liked my laptop the way it was I dont like the new look, my laptop was my tool now it looks Mickey Mouse. I have to say SL was the best OS yet in my opinion. Before you say go back its easy, whats the point all users will have to upgrade as we are under apples control and more things will not work with previous OS. I remember the days of Apple calling Microsoft, what a turnaround as Apple take the same direction with their customers.
My macbook 2.66 Ghz intel Core Duo, 4 GB ram. Shouldnt be slow.
I upgraded to Lion, none of the things stated in your post happened, I assume your Grandson did not make a backup and thus has no easy way to undo it.

I upgraded to Lion and none of the things that happened to his grandson happened to me either. I don't think for one second that means they didn't happen to his grandson.
That's not my point, it's the lack of an escape route (no backup) that does, a 13 year old may not think ahead, his Grandparents should have.
And that makes his problem any less frustrating...how, exactly?

Doesn't, it makes it more fristrating, had anyone bothered to prepare for an OS replacement this would not be happening, as it is it's a problem, being frustrated at your own failures may be common here and 13 year olds may be excused in the rush of youth but Grandparents, no.
This board is for solutions, not constant complaints about issues that track back to the user, get over it and fix it.
Dear oh dear, why is this board so full of people with your attitude? Look, Apple DID and still ARE selling Lion as an easy 1-click upgrade. Nowhere does it say - "make sure you have a backup that you can revert to".
You, I and other experienced users might now this. What I don't understand is your lack of empathy for people (kids and grandparents particularly!) that bought the sales spiel. Who's really at fault? Them or Apple?
We can go back and forth for ever, but in answer to your question, the user is responsible for what they do, what they don't do, and the result thereof, blaming others for one's own failures may feel better but is not progress toward a solution.
Clear?
