Does anyone recommend OS X Lion?
I've seen many comments about people having different problems and trouble with the new OS X Lion, does anyone recommend me to download it? My current OS is Mac OS X 10.6.7.
MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.7)

Wow. That solves ALL the problems here in these forums.
Nope.
I'm afraid, unfortunately it solves not a single problem.
But, maybe it will relativize ones view by changing the viewpoint. Discussions like this one here came up on every new OS X step.
Just for example, as the most trouble people have with Lion is the WiFi thing:
Only on this Community:
10.4 tiger wifi problems site:discussions.apple.com -->> 20.400 hits
10.5 leopard wifi problems site:discussions.apple.com -->> 70.800 hits
10.6 wifi problems site:discussions.apple.com -->> 143.000 hits
And the topics after every new release read all the same ...
Rant and rave from a few thousand bees in a hive of several millions will also bring nothing on the way to solve any problems.
Instead of rant here, one may report his or her issues to Apple support or customer feedback...
here -> http://www.apple.com/feedback/
here -> https://expresslane.apple.com/GetproductgroupList.do#tab-product-cats
It will surely help a lot more to get solutions.
Only my two Cents ...

Discussions like this one here come up at every step, agreed; however, not anywhere near the extent that this hairball has coughed up. I've been here a very long time (since Jaguar) and have been extensively reading these forums as an indicator when to upgrade. In the past, it's always been at the middle of the run. With this OS, it is NEVER.
And the topics after every release DO NOT read the same. The major changes this OS has introduced are UNWELCOME to the MAJORITY of previous Mac COMPUTER users. Lion is the debacle of FCX, only OS-global.
And characterizing complaints as "a few thousand" amongst "several millions" is disingenuous at worst, and hopelessly naive at best.
Rest assured, Apple doesn't need your "two cents"; it's purchased millions of even better opinions all its own that don't rely quite so much on fantasy spin.
And Apple has long proved itself a company that only listens to its customers when forced to by public opinion.
I suspect this forum is a small percentage of users who have problems.
Certainly has been in the past. No longer the case. Dissatisfaction with Lion and Apple spreads far beyond these cyberwalls.

Is it me, or have you not been politely asked twice to sumbit your claims and/or complaints directly to Apple and to stop complaining here? Your negativity and sarcasm aren't helping anyone; and certainly not yourself. So why do you continue to post here? How else can we, as a community, ease your suffering? You gave your two cents. Now it's time to be a part of the solution, or move on.
Thank you very much.

Yes, don't be a part of the problem, be a part of the solution.
I have another post here on the issues I am facing on 3 machines (one super powerful Mac Pro with 2xQuad cores, 16 GB of Ram).
Lion is sluggish, everything seems to be slow. Someone else suggested that its like Lion is on valium, I would agree.

Nice.
Don't worry, everything works out in the end.
At 133 pages, it's bound to have a few rants, LOL.
Why do you read these forums for signs to upgrade? No one has the exact same cofiguration as you do, and this is a Support Forum, people report their problems here. What kind of sign are you looking for?
One thing you need to do is commit to cause of action, don't waste your time being frustrated, just take action, observe the outcome and make a decision. Here are some posible action, these are pretty hardcore:
You have to do some research on how to do these things and it is an adventure, but better than waiting randomly for posts here that will show you the way, which will never happen, simply because nobody else owns your computer.

Agreed. And since we're talking about fundamentals, right, and not just cosmetic change for the LCD market's sake, the solution is for Apple to now produce a real OS upgrade, an OS that makes things better.
Is it just me, or are people who are brand new here with miniscule point counts telling long term users with vastly higher point counts who have helped many in the past where to go?
No need to answer. It's a rhetorical question with an obvious answer.
However, to answer your question; No, it IS just you, and as someone who has been around here a lot longer than you, YOU move on. First.
And thank YOU very much.
(Snff, snff...do I detect the whiff of flame war in the wind...?)
I think everyone has equal right to be here and express their point of view regardless of how many or few help points they've accumulated.
Leslie, if you think Cold--'s post is inflammatory or out of order, hit the 'report abuse' button, something you can do with your point count, but he can't do with his. 😝
Thanks, I'll take it under consideration. However, I think the desired points have been made, and barring any more "advice" from newbies, I'm done. 🙂
(Slight interruption, sorry . . .)
Just a comment.
Most long time users here know the terms of use. Be polite, be respectful, no name calling, etc.
Some don't, apparently.
Almost everyone who's posted here has very strong opinions, obviously.
But there's no excuse for calling people newbies, or challenging their wisdom because their registration date is newer than others . . . calling someone's opinions worthless. Registration dates have nothing to do with computer/Mac knowledge or experience. Lots of us have been here since 2004. Big deal.
For the newer members here . . .
We're all equal, and everyone is welcome. Don't let anyone try to tell you otherwise.
Just try to keep the arguments civil.
✌
I thought I said I was done. Well, now I'm DONE.

What amuses me is that I used my old tech ID for years on these boards before I started my own business and then stopped consulting all together. When I signed up again I just used my old iTunes ID instead, thinking that my tech ID had merged properly after submitting a request to Apple.
10+ years of working with Macs. 6 years of professionally servicing the Mac community (a highly-decorated/Apple-certified hardware/software/server technician) in Chicago. Countless hours of giving people help on the internet. Zero forum cred (LOL).
Moving on:
I said earlier that I had set up a Lion server and had some troubles with NetBoot. This wasn't true. I had received some new hardware to set up for a client (two Mac Mini servers) and assumed it had Lion pre-installed. It actually had 10.6. I'm currently trying to upgrade it to Lioin. Here's how the process goes:
I work in a government building so a lot of my test machines don't have access to the internet. I had to download the 10.6.8 Combo Updater separately just to get the Lion installer to work. So I..
Ya-aaaay!
Gah! I really don't like this whole route they've gone with installing the OS. It's really inconvenient. But then again, this is why I'm trying to set up a NetRestore image of Lion to see if I can get a Lion Server to serve this image and make this process easier. If I'm lucky enough to get it working, it should prove as a great solution to lots of SoHos and big businesses that manage a lot of Macs. One thing I haven't seen so far is any good guides to serve a Lion image from a server. Anyone who would like to collaborate on a guide is welcome to contact me. 🙂
I'll post any positive findings or fixes with Lion Server that I may encounter in either this thread or a new one.
Cheers!
