Does anyone recommend OS X Lion?

I've seen many comments about people having different problems and trouble with the new OS X Lion, does anyone recommend me to download it? My current OS is Mac OS X 10.6.7.

Just because YOU have no issues, doesn't mean no one else does.

Pfffff... That applies the other way around as well, dear. I had issues with Snow Leopard and I still do when I boot from 10.6.8. What about it, then? Zero issues with Lion, at least in terms of performances and beach balls. It feels like having a new computer. Snow Leopard would get a rating of 3 in my system. And I am generous. 5 to Lion.

Anyway, 10.7.2 should be out in a couple of days. No one denies that Lion is bugged, but so were all releases before the 10.x.2 update. We'll see then.

Quite so. That was exactly my point. Here it is again:

Now, what this should tell anyone except a troll - given all three systems run off exactly the same hardware - is that your experience with Lion may not be the same as others

Ooops. Sorry. I must have overlooked it.

Still it puzzles me why some machines don't seem to like Lion. To re-enable the recovery partition that was gone since I just restored Lion from the backup into the new internall HDD I reinstalled Lion from the beginning. Lion over Lion, not a clean install. It seems to work even better!!!

Well, it seems Lion likes even the same machine differently, depending on how it was installed, as I mentioned above.

Ok with that. But I am pretty sure I've read complainings from people (even you? I don't remember) that made a clean Lion install and still had plenty of issues.

It must be clear that a clean install is not a solution if after that we use Migration Assistant, though. All garbage from previous installations gets indeed migrated. But it does help somehow.

Yes, Michel, you need only read up to my post where I detailed the differences between my three systems to see that a clean install is no certain solution, here it is again, for you:

iii. Clean install of Lion on zero-ed and re-formatted disk with no 3rd party apps and bare minimal OS-installed only apps (i.e., as clean and healthy as it gets)

- keyboard input issues, but no hanging issues in Finder

😉

Bob, Kevin et al - It seems sanity (or should I say sobriety...) has been restored. I keep a list of such people (its easy to forget after a couple of weeks) in case they ever ask a support question. They'll get no help from me.

Michel, I don't want to say too much about the keyboard issue, as its something I reported as a bug and am still getting feedback on from Apple Support. It may or may not be sorted out by the time of the next update, we'll have to wait and see. It's certainly not an issue that would stop me recommending Lion — that's down to usability and general design philosophy as I've mentioned somewhere 😕 before.

Hope the weather improves..we're due for flooding here in the next couple of days and I'm trying to figure out how to move my sofa, fridge, work desk and other items up to the second floor. 😮

It's more likely 1% of Lion users who are not having issues. I installed on a healthy machine without much problem. In spite of regular maintenance my MBP has gradually gotten slower, quirky and I am getting freezes now. Beach balls are like downtown traffic lights. Wait a few months before you try it, and then put it on an external drive until it works better.
