Does anyone recommend OS X Lion?

I've seen many comments about people having different problems and trouble with the new OS X Lion, does anyone recommend me to download it? My current OS is Mac OS X 10.6.7.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.7)

I do. I've been using it a while and every install and upgrade was easy and flawless.

Of course, if you read all the stuff here you'll be convinced that it's a disaster. All the folks who don't have a problem don't come here.

I skipped OS 8 entirely. I went from a Performa 6300CD in System 7.5 directly to my first iMac in 9.0.x.

You were smart! Would that I had done the same!

Sounds like I didn't miss much. If the Performa's 1.2 GB hard drive hadn't filled up, I'd still be plugging away in System 7.5 the way I did for FIVE YEARS, ha-ha.

LOL, yeah, you sure didn't miss much. 8 was a catastrophe (for me, anyway). Thank God for 8.5!

You really do need to take some suggestions from this forum on doing some maintenance to your system, there is nothing wrong with Lion. Ask the millions who have no need to come here. Anyhow, this really is getting boring, I'm off to talk to a wall.

Cheers

We don't HATE Apple. I love Apple. I am an Apple Stockholder. I have been for years. Apple has made me a lot of money.I think Lion is poorly designed and configured. It was prematurely pushed out and its improvements are not worth moving up to. Tom doesn't hate Apple either but we reject an operating system that is inferior to Snow Leopard.

Perhaps you should have investigated before making the purchase. Quite clearly, there are some individuals that should not be entrusted with the purchase of electronics.

If you have a MacBook Pro and use a wireless WiFi router, I wouldn't upgrade. I spent 2 hours on the phone with Apple Support to be told the problem was my router. I spent the next 4 hours restoring to my Snow Leopard, and haven't had any problems with the router since. If you want to try Lion just make sure to do a Time Machine b/u of your snow leopard.

I have been using Lion from day 1 and have never had wireless problems. I use a wireless router, and have used my MBP at several locations away from home and had to issues with wireless. The issue may be with your particular router, although you say it works well with Snow. Not sure what the issue is. Is your wireless router an Apple device or third party?

Beware if you have Have programs like Quick books. you will need to re buy the whole program only avalible from app store for Lion.

So partition drive and load Lion on it so you have the snow l to go back to for tax and accounts.

Also sony reader had problem but now they have a download to fix it on there site.

watch out apps have to be compatable I would give it another 6 months before making the move.

You are certainly incorrect. Lion does not have a "myriad of problems."

Wrong way to approach the issue. It's not about toting up all the bad or meaningless features provided by Lion.

The correct way is the meaningful improvements : problems ratio. Because Lion's meaningful improvements over Snow Leopard are so few, even a few problems seem too many.

Apple was downloaded ONE MILLION TIMES in the first 24 hours that it was released and who knows how many million times more since. If this forum was truely representative of the general Mac population, it would be impossible to find a place to post.

Faulty logic. Downloads are always magnificent on Day One, all the first-movers want to get onboard the hype train. Then they fall off. If you study the situation for Lion n the Store now, the rating has fallen quite a lot into the mediocre range and most recent posters there are not happy campers. Most Mac users don't know about these forums or use them extensively, especially after Apple messed with the Forums interface to make it more IOS 5-like (i.e., more smartphone-like) and less useful.

Let me understand you. It's "wrong" to be aware that Lion does not have a "myriad of problems." Wow!

Does anyone recommend OS X Lion?
