Screen flicker after Lion upgrade

Mac mini upgrade to Lion – the upgrade was smooth howeveronce it started up for the 1st time I noticed a flickering screen. Makingany Display changes from System Preferences causes the screen to switch of (sameas when screen has no input) even if I just try to change the rotation, nomatter what I do it does not come back until I force a restart using the powerbutton. I have a Acer monitor connected via HDMI cable, I have had no issuesbefore the upgade. Anybody else seeing the same thing or perhaps have tips toget this resolved.

Thanks mush,

I'm having this flickering with a 20" Cinema Display on my MacPro 2x 2,66 Dual-Core Intel Xeon since the Lion update. No second monitor. And very often the screen stays off as if it doesn't get power anymore, and then i have to unplug the power cord and put it in again to get it working again. Never had this with SL.

Very very annoying!!!

After suffering with an odd line, spanning the top of my screen length ways, the screen went crazy. Odd shapes and colours appeared. Apple replaced the screen under warranty! Lucky for me, because they didn't believe it had anything to do with Lion. That being said, they didn't know what causes it! Even after they replaced the screen, they didn't give a diagnosis! It had to be Lion tho!

I'm also suffering a similar problem. External display connected to a new MacBook Pro (15" i7), over a Thunderbolt <> HDMI connection, flickers once every couple of seconds. Rebooting solves the problem, but after moving around and reconnecting it sometimes the flicker returns.

A video I just recorded:http://youtu.be/3ucwUrlNMgM

Any ideas how to solve this permanently?

Using a SyncMaster 226bw 22" with 2011 Mac Mini... worked fine for 3 weeks... now every boot up it flickers and seems to continue to flicker for longer periods every startup, after 10 seconds it goes away. Used monitor for a year with MBP 2009 Snow Leopard with NO issues.

Obviously a Lion problem, we'll just have to wait for Apple to fix it. If EVERYONE with a flicker called Apple support me thinks they'd get on it sooner than later.

OK I found the solution, it worked for me.

I've noticed that the problem started with the new fresh install of Lion, but when I've upgraded from snow leopard to Lion nothing has happened.

So I've done a fresh new install of SL and immediately uprade to Lion... problem solved.

Thanks to Time Machine and Migration assistant for the rest 🙂

The apple care has expired on september 11 ⚠ and apple service wanted to change the motherboard... I'm really happy about this cheap solution 😝

I have a 20" cinema display hooked up to my Mac Pro 2.8ghz.

Monitor has worked great until todays 10.7.2 update. Now my screen flickers crazy every 1 second.

The strange part is if I do a software update, during the search for new updates, the monitor does not flicker at all and is rock solid.

This tells me that something in Lion 10.7.2 has ruined my monitor connection. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I may stroke out from this monitor.

Thanks

10.7.2 upgrade seems to have cured my flickering second monitor issue!!!!

As stated in my initial post earlier in this thread, my Lion upgrade from Snow Leopard and the subsequent 10.7.1 update left my second monitor constantly blanking on and off, which has been incredibly annoying. But after yesterdays 10.7.2 update it seems to be steady as a rock again.

So after a day of the flickering, and trying everything to solve it, I have fixed mine at least for now.

I took the monitor cable from the Apple DVI/ADC adaptor out my MacPRO while it is on, right out of the video

card. Then I waited about 10 seconds and plugged it back into the video card.

Problem solved. I have not rebooted, no sleep mode and I have not logged out since doing this, so I do not

know if this fixed it for good.

So far it is back to it's good old self. Let me know if this works for anyone else.

Thanks
