Screen Sharing in Lion from iPad

This problem affects everyone, apparently.

I managed to get Chicken of the VNC to control the current open session, but that's about it. Per-User Screen Sharing is a no-go so far.

It probably only works with the Apple Remote Desktop app (http://www.apple.com/remotedesktop/), but don't quote me on that, I haven't tried it.

It seems like that your now required to provide username AND password in the VNC authentication in order to skip the login in screen (which in it self just died on me as soon as I tried to give my password).

Remoter VNC works like a charm after i changed authentication to username and password.

When I tried that last night I was only able to control the currently open user session.

Were you able to control a different user session than the one currently active on the "serving" mac?

I only tried controling the active user session as that what I expect should work, and it does. As my interest is only to control the active session I have never investigated the possiblity to support several active user desktops on the machine over VNC/ARD.

It seems like that Mocha VNC at the moment doesn't support extended authentication. It's up to Mochasoft to fix that and my point of view is that a downgrade is not nessecary.

Sorry mate, I have Remoter too (a great client by the way) It worked like a charm when my mini (headless server) was on SL, and now i just have either the "typical iOS/Lion grey fabric background" alone or the login screen.

I can't login and manage my headless mini, like it was just a screenshot, all frozen, no mouse cursor.

But.... Apple remote desktop still works beautifully... without asking anything (no login screen or whatever).

I don't understand what's happening here...

Could someone give me an aspirin please?

I have to second that. Remoter doesn't work for me either. I'm still getting that grey login screen. I had used Mocha and contacted them. The developer said that he thinks this is a bug on Apple's side.

I had the very same problem with Remoter until I edited my connection and filled in my username (unix username, not given name) and password.

I use Screens for this purpose, and along with an app update (which may be required from your app's creator) I also had to change from using my normal VNC username/password to using my actual Mac user account information.

I confirm that works

I case of, i want to clarify i didn't check "screen sharing" but "remote management" (or whatever it is called in english, i have a french version) and on the button "computer preferences" to check the vnc option.

I use mocha vnc and have the same problem but you can get around it by making a simple macro #T (no space) then your password (no space) #R . When you see the login screen recall this marco and then press the enter arrow in vnc and you will log into lion. Makes it useable until a software fix.
