NTFS drive does not mount under Lion.

I have just upgraded to Lion. Previously I could mount my NTFS formatted drives. Now I cannot mount any. Disk utility sees the drives but will not mount them. When I revert to 10.6.8, the problems disappear. If there a fix of technique in LION to enable NTFS drives to mount?

Here are the things you *should* follow step by step.

  1. Assuming you have ntfs-3g installed, then,
  2. Go to System Preferences
  3. Find ntfs-3g and macfuse.
  4. Uninstall them
  5. Delete the prerences options of macfuse
  6. Now reboot the system.
  7. Install ntfs-3g from :http://www.tuxera.com/mac/tuxerantfs_2010.12-RC.dmg
  8. Install http://www.tuxera.com/mac/macfuse-core-10.5-2.1.9.dmg[VERY IMP STEP]
  9. Reboot the system.
  10. Now insert your USB NTFS hard drive, and it should get mounted for read/write access.

Please note that it would give a nagging warning

NTFS-3G could not mount /dev/disk...

at /Volumes/.... because the following problem occurred:

Did not receive a signal within 15.000000 seconds. Exiting...

And it is fine, the read write is proper. Do not worry. Feel free to bug me, in case anything needed.

copied from 'humbertog' :

1. Uninstall every NTFS Driver (Paragon, Tuxera, NTFS-3G etc.)

2. Restart computer

3. Delete /System/Library/filesystems/ufsd.fs (backup just to be safe)

4. Install any NTFS Driver, I used Paragon NTFS for Mac 9.01

5. Restart and enjoy!!!

Afraid I just can't figure this one out.

I don't have "ufsd.fs" in /System/Library/filesystems/ufsd.fs but do have "udf.fs" & "ufsd_NTFS.fs"

Have tried deleting "ufsd_NTFS.fs" before & after uninstalling & then reinstalling Paragon, but to no joy - "ufsd.fs" just never appeared.

Earlier, prior to all that, I installed MacFuse, but haven't been able to find where that is to unistall it prior to uninstalling Paragon as well, but even if I did that, do you think it would still give me "ufsd.fs" to then delete etc etc?

Thanks for any help offered by anyone!

having the same problem under 10.7.2 with Paragon NTFS 9.5 I just checked with Paragon Support.

- mount the volume on a windows machine

- run "chkdsk D: /F /R" where D: ist your drive letter followed by a colon ( eg D:, K: etc)

you may run this more than once.

for me it worked after the first time.

Paragon is more picky about the filesystem than your normal OS.

worked for me.
