NTFS drive does not mount under Lion.

I have just upgraded to Lion. Previously I could mount my NTFS formatted drives. Now I cannot mount any. Disk utility sees the drives but will not mount them. When I revert to 10.6.8, the problems disappear. If there a fix of technique in LION to enable NTFS drives to mount?

none of this is working for me i'm afraid. tried all the steps given by boddie8 a couple of times, nothing has changed - computer still not reading/mounting the drive.

i would love to delete that file from System/Library folder that has been mentioned but ever since I upgraded to Lion there is no longer the Library folder on my computer, simply can not find it. so annoyed and disappointed!

Unfortunately, yes... You will have to make the same procedure every time you want to mount your HD...

Keep in mind that this is will give you a "read only" access; for the meantime you won't be able to write onto your HD.

Anyways, I think that's better than nothing.

If it helps, this is how I solved my very own issue:

1. I uninstalled every NTFS driver that I had on my Mac.

2. I restarted.

3. I deleted the file on this route: /System/Library/filesystems/ufsd.fs

(I did a backup of the file, just in case)

4. I reinstalled a NTFS driver, (I used Paragon NTFS for Mac v.9.0)

5. Restart again.

6. You're done. You should be able to mount your external NTFS drive.

I've heard there are a lot of bugs with Lion... Ultimately, I think we'll have to wait for an Apple update... Yes, I know, it's disappointing :S

Good luck, dude!

To reveal Library folder, there are various methods, simpleones are

Open Terminal at your home directory and type

chflags nohidden ~/Library/

This will show up Library folder in the finder window.

Alternatively, Hold Option key and click Go in Finder to show up Library folder to go to.

You are getting permissions denied in Terminal because you have not set user password to login. Though you are an administrator, you need to set login password to have full funtionality of Terminal. Try it.

Have tried the both fixes listed above and got No such file or directory in Terminal. I have a WD 1 TB My Book Media drive. Not able to erase/re-format or partition - keep getting error - could not process last block of device. Can see it in disk utility and in system report but that's it. Disk utility says is in not formatted, however i have been using the external drive for months with no problem. Is there anything else that can be done so that i don't lose access to all of my back up information ?
